Hi all,
My dad's looking to buy a 32" TV. We're looking to spend about £250 max and he doesnt really want to go bigger than 32". We're looking at SONY BRAVIA KDL32R433BBU or SAMSUNG UE32H5000. Anyone know much about these or would recommend another?
Thx Pete

As always, Sony are a top make, Samsung are a middling make - we sell LOAD's of the Sony's, they have been extremely good and reliable sets.

I'm a little surprised the Sony only seems to be listed as a 720p set considering the 5 year old 32" Sony TV I have claims to be a 1080p one.

As there's no such thing, then it's certainly not listed as that

As a budget model though it is 'only' HD Ready, but as it's only 32 inch that really doesn't make a deal of difference. It'll certainly give a better picture than a poorer make, whether Full HD or not.

I paid £400-450 five years ago for a 32" TV (KDL-32EX403) with Full HD & Freeview HD and with the trend towards TV's being cheaper and offering more/better features & better picture quality I was a little surprised to see this set is not a Full HD set.

I guess I'm not going to rush to change my current TV any time soon.

Why do you imagine a Full HD set would offer better picture quality? - it's certainly possible it 'may', but it's just as possible an HD Ready set gives a better picture.

We used to have an entire 'wall' of Sony 32 inch sets, all showing the exact same pictures - I certainly couldn't have picked out which were Full HD and which were HD ready (for which reason I thought it was an incredibly poor display choice by Sony).

However, now (just as back then) you have the option of 32 inch sets, either the 'bottom of the range' HD Ready sets, or the higher spec. Full HD ones.
