What is going on with her? She is hardly in it anymore. Does DTC not like her or something?

I'm getting really tired of the Carters, Kat/Alfie and Sharon. They all get way too much air time. I'm finding the Phil/Max feud story dull as well.

She looked like an extra in Friday's episode. It was embarrassing.

She and Lola are basically glorified extras these days. You'd think with Lauren's departure they'd be getting more prominence, but nope, still not even a sniff of a storyline for either of them,

Whitney and Rebecca both have quite fair alabaster skin which is accentuated by their choice of makeup

When is her contract up cause I could see her going then. Personally I've never been that fond of her, maybe because her image and vibe never matured, those hideous hoop ear rings nobody really wears any more and general paint by numbers chav-ness never appealed to me.

EastEnders dull ATM? NEVER...

Trust me, you haven't seen anything yet.

If it's bad now, I dread to think how bad it will be come summer, as we know EastEnders likes to have a bit of a nap, in those months. What gripping storylines have we got coming up exactly? I garantee the show will be filler now for the next 6 months.

As for Whitney being underused by DTC, it's no different to half the cast tbh. Masood, Carol, Abi and many more have all had the same treatment for months now, and I wouldn't say Kat/Alfie are overused at all. Quite the opposite actually...

The current team at EastEnders have really lost their touch since live week (Bar the odd episode, like tonight's), and they really need to pull their socks up.

Weird, as Whitney is 10x better than Lauren.

It will no doubt be a utter snorefest, might get the odd good episode and a glimpse of the forth coming autumn/winter stuff but it will be zzzzz from now on.

It's worrying how inconsistent DTC & co can be with the placement of storylines and character.

I think she has been reduced to extra status, the actress must be bored

The problem with Whitney is that she's a limited character who's done little but fall in love multiple times. Since Tony was convicted Whitney has jumped from one relationship to the next, using people and playing the victim when challenged on it. Years of this exhausted viewers' patience and sympathy. This might be why DTC is reluctant to make too much of Whitney's relationship with Lee. However, Whitney is defined by her relationships and without a storyline about her love life she's nothing.

I reckon DTC figured she is such a weak actress, he decided to banish her as an extra. I found her poor in all the storylines they gave her. It was Patsy Palmer who was the best in the tony storyline, and it was Jessie Wallace who stole the spotlight in the episode when Whitney went missing following Tony's death in prison, and she confided to Whitney about the abuse she suffered.

So i can't say I am bothered about Whitney's increasing absences. But as for Lola, that needs to be sorted.

Whitney's an especially one-dimensional character imo so I don't see there's anywhere they can take the character. She's so well-established in the same rut I think it'd take her time away from the square and coming back having had life-changing experiences to be believable whatsoever if she were to change dramatically.

...

I don't know what it was like before as I returned after a few years' absence for live week, which blew my socks off. The all live episode was astounding stuff, simply phenomenal.

I hung around for the aftermath but since that it's been utterly dreadful, and got worse and worse to the point where I can't bring myself to watch it even to while away some time...

Still looks hot. Shona needs a storyline to show her ability again.

I agree. I hope they quit Eastenders and do really well with their careers after the show. DTC has treated them in a terrible way. Shameful from him.

People may not like Whitney, but Shona is a good actress and deserves to be used. How can people claim Shona cannot act, when she is a lot better than Maddy Hill?

I disagree. I think Shona is a good actress. She proved what a good actress she was during the Tony story and the prostitution story. When she gets a big story, Shona shines. The reason Shona isn't getting a story, is because she isn't a favourite with DTC.

Say what you want about Kirkwood, but he used Shona and let her shine. Something, which DTC has failed to do. I have praised DTC before for his good stories, but he only uses his favourites and neglects the ones who are not his favourites. Shameful from a producer. Can you honestly say Maddy Hill, the one who plays Shabnam, Rita Simons and Lorna Fitzgerald are stronger actresses than Shona? They get more air time than Shona, but are weaker actresses.

I agree. I think Whitney is a far more interesting character than Lauren. However, DTC has his favourites. Terrible producer for the way he treats characters. Good producer for stories though. That is where DTC isn't as good as Santer. Santer did well with characters and stories.

I prefer Whitney to Lauren and Abi. The Tony story was excellent.
