The Moto E has been available from a number of retailers at around £50 in the last few months.

You still aren't getting it though, it's the TOTAL outlay you are tying yourself to for an out of date phone, if you really cannot afford to pay £50 or so for a handset you shouldn't be taking out a 24 month contract. .

t.
Yes I can afford £50 but it seems silly.
Even assuming that I could get a Moto E for £50 (I've still yet to see one that cheap) I'm still going to be paying 7.50 a month for a giff gaff goodybag to run it and getting half as much data to boot.

Yes if I lost my job I would still have to pay 7.50 from my benefits to cover the contract but unless I intend to do without any sort if phone at all I would still be paying to run a pay as you go mobile anyway.

Anyway this wasn't what I had in mind when I started this thread. I wasn't particularly after financial advice just a place to post up low cost contact deals. ....

This is not a bad guide that is mostly up to date for anyone interested in PAYG or sim only.

Did you check HUKD as I said? It's been posted for a little as £30 there. There's always Moto deals posted because they're great Bargain phones.

You're intent on getting a 'cheap' contract then that's absolutely up to you.

As many people have said the reason there hasn't been a load of replies listing these low cost contracts is because there a false economy. And not low cost. Which many people have pointed out. But since you think they are then enjoy whichever phone you decide to go with.

If you lost your job you could just not buy credit for a payg phone. If you were on job seekers of £57 a week £7.50 a month suddenly becomes a vast amount of money.

The Moto E is a great budget phone. My Aunty has one. Great battery life. Nice and quick. Crap camera and no flash but it's a budget phone after all.

Completely off topic but job seekers is 72 pounds ish a week if you are over 25. Still not a lot but enough to keep paying a very basic contract if the worst ever came to the worst. Gawd knows how people with fifty quid a month contract go on if they lose their jobs. ..

Yeah I've heard good things about the moto e for the price. Apart from the camera / flash it should do most of the things my S2 did?

Like I say the iphone 4 s has too small a screen for me.

Samsung Galaxy Core Prime is slightly higher specced than the Moto and costs about £20 more, so is well worth considering too. I'll probably upgrade to that for my new BT Mobile fiver a month contract, as my Samsung Galaxy Young is a bit battered now, underspecced and is too small. Sod the pricier all singing all dancing bigger beggers though, I'll never need one of them. Or 4G for that matter (though I can easily afford the top of the range iPhone 6 but £789 for a phone? Sod that for a lark!).
