Cat poo!

Hi

We've inherited our daughter's cat whilst she is flat hunting. He settled in very well and everything was going fine until our neighbour says he's taken to pooing on her patio, her lawn and even on her front doorstep! She says she's caught him doing it! He's a small cat and these are large dog like poos (we went round to collect them). It seemed very unlikely that a cat trained in a litter tray (who loved scratching to cover the poo) should do it so openly and not in sand or soil.

Anyway, was out in our garden yesterday and found 3 largish poos on our lawn. There's no dog allowed off a lead around here, and it doesn't look like fox poo.

If it is our visitor cat, how do we stop him doing it in such anti-social places?

Difficult. Some cats bury it, some just do it anywhere like dogs. You could try providing a litter tray and see if the cat will use it?

The neighbour's cats where I used to live used to bury it - in my garden. Nothing beats fingernails of cat poo when planting out seedlings.
People would rightly berate someone for letting their dog foul their garden. But all to often non cat owners are expected to put up with the mess left by their neighbour's cats. 'Sorry, it's just what cats do' I was once told.
I might add that my neighbour did provide litter trays and they still did it. Kudos to the OP for being considerate but I don't think there is an easy answer.
