I find that when watching live tv on the Now tv box that the picture stutters. It is not massive but is enough to be conscious of and spoils watching anything. You notice it most when watching the sports channels. Would this be any better if you were to watch via the chromecast.

From memory I don't think you can even watch live TV on chromecast as the Android app didn't support it.

The stutter is due to the fact its displaying 25fps material at 60hz its the same on sky go and pretty sure it's encoded poorly at 30fps as even out putting on a laptop at 50Hz it does it

Chromecast and Now TV/Roku boxes all have noticeable picture judder as they're American devices and operate at 60Hz. It's not so bad for films but very noticeable on sport.

In Google play it lists the apps for Chromecast and Now TV is there. Do you mean that you can only watch the on demand content and not the live channels that I can watch on my tablet and Now TV box

The best way is the way you're watching it. It's just not a great service, sky need to improve their streams

The Android App has always supported Live TV and you can use it to watch on the Chromecast.
I've not noticed much difference between box and Chromecast in quality.

I've just bought an Apple TV to watch Now TV, mainly for F1. Not because I like Apple stuff (I don't) but I think it is the only adapter which can show live content in better than SD quality - 720p as mentioned above. It can handle 50 or 60 hertz. so the picture quality is smooth.

I only have a 12 Mbps connection but haven't had a single buffering event since I started using it.

Dammit, I hate having to say that something from Apple is actually quite good.

I have Chromecast myself and I find it quiet good. I use it mainly to stream movies from Plex or Cast from Youtube onto my tv and I am very happy with the results. I actually had an Apple TV 3 box myself & felt it wasn't as good as Chromecast for what I needed it for & picture quality although you could airplay straight from the BBC player which was handy.
