Amazon Prime on Android
I had an email yesterday that said there was now an Amazon Prime App for Android. As I live in an area with poor broadband speed which does not lend itself to live streaming, I thought this would be good as I could download content and then watch it on my TV connected to my Nexus 7. However unlike the IOS and Amazon Fire versions, there is no download facility, only live streaming. I contacted Amazon, who said Quote:
At this time, you can download Amazon Instant Video titles on iOS devices, Fire Tablets, and Fire phone. I was quite prepared to pay my £79 so I could watch the likes of Harry Bosch and other series from Amazon, but it is not to be.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to download via Android device. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. However you can download the videos by using your Kindle device. Customer feedback like yours is very important in helping us continue to improve the experience of using our digital video service. In this case, I've now forwarded your message to our Amazon Instant Video development team for consideration as we make future improvements. |

I believe the Kindle Fire tablets/phone are basically Android but with a custom Amazon interface, which makes it more ridiculous.
It's one of the reasons why I won't leave Netflix yet, because at least Netflix has an interest on making every platform as good as it can be, rather than using it as a vehicle for their own hardware |
