lmfao is dtc taking the piss wtf
the build up to her toppin herself was so good it was proper dramatic but since then it has been a piss take the entire aftermath - all the hospital and stuff with social services and deep talk has been given pretty much no screen time cos they decided to put it along running wiv Stans death SL Kats been round 15 yrs stans been round 1 yr and Kats an EE legend her SL is way more important why was it given 5 mins of screentime while Stans shit took up the whole week DTC is so bad at pacing its flippin hilarious |

I agree, there should have been more to it but that's DTC and his obsession with all things Carter!

Kat & Alfie have got to go it's getting beyond ridiculous now. It's too much misery with them two they need to get out of Waldorf and off our screens.

I completely agree with you Essex_Boy.
Now, look at the way Stacey's bipolar storyline was handled, compared to Kat's suicide storyline. So much more effort and care went into it! |

Stacey's bipolar was handled with sensitivity and was actually played out onscreen but most of Kat's has been swept under the carpet, over-shadowed yet again by a Carter story! |

Absolute nonsense.

The aftermath has barely begun. Not to mention the character didn't even get a duff duff last Friday, because it was used on Dean turning up out of the blue, just as his family were talking about him (unrealistic). Anyway, just because she's appeared in a few scenes since, doesn't mean that it makes the aftermath any better. I say quality, over quantity for a starters, but Kat didn't really receive either. Not to mention she doesn't appear in any of the spoilers or cast lists for the next few weeks, so we'll have absolutely no idea how she's coping, just like we don't know how Kim is coping with baby Pearl. |

I'm beginnng to think DTC wants Kat and Alfie gone but doesn't want to actually axe them for fear of an audience backlash so is just making their work so unsatisfying that they quit. It's such a shame as Kat has so much more to give but they need to have the guts to split her from bloody Alfie for good as the on/off/on/off relationship is beyond boring.
I don't know anything about the spinoff but if they are leaving the main show for a while that feels like they are slowly being edged out. |

Absolutely. It's ridiculous! Kat is iconic, the Carters are not.

Oh yes Kat was recovering in hospital on Monday, but was given what, 20% of the screen time?

We know Kat is recovering but we don't know how she is FEELING, she was on screen for a couple of minutes and then she was gone again, we didn't see her leaving hospital, there was no welcome home party, no flowers or card, no one in the square mentioned it and that social worker stopped for all of ten minutes. Can you imagine if this had been Linda? There would have been a massive karaoke party, flowers, cards, a cake, pink balloons etc. etc. Only the best for the pink fluffy parakeet but not for our lovely Kat! |

Stacey wasn't even there for her homecoming despite saying she'd be there as moral support when the social worker came! Where was nosey Pam Coker with a bouquet of flowers on behalf of the market traders? Where's Kim? She's meant to be Kat's best mate. Why didn't she drop in to try and cheer Kat up. Kat was there for Kim when Pearl was born premature but no Kim offering friendship and support to Kat. So sloppy. So underwritten. Such lack of effort. ![]() But then it's only Kat, one of the most popular and iconic characters in EE history, no need to make much effort.

We don't even know if Charlie Slater has been told, or Zoe or any of Kat's sisters! There is absolutely no detail in the writing. It's so maddening.

It seems that the only person who is there for her is Alfie and we know that more people than him love Kat, if it had been Linda everyone would have been there for her but Kat doesn't seem to be as important to DTC as the Carters! |

What makes this so annoying is Jessie Wallace is widely regarded as one of the best ever actresses in soaps and if she was given the chance she could have knocked this story out the park but they're not giving her that opportunity. It's such a waste of a talented actress.
Jessie can do this standing on her head and she should be given her chance to shine but no DTC decides to waste her talents instead! |

I sort of agree but I guess it has shown how fragile Kat still is and that there is a process that social takes out on somebody who does something like what Kat did. It almost feels like the main problem is that the storyline has been overtaken by several others such as the Stan storyline, its disappointing.

I'd love to see a new Alfie-less Kat, strong and focussed

Hopefully Kat will return from the spin off show without bloody Alfie! I don't think giving them their own show was done to edge them out but come to think of it it's a good idea where Alfie is concerned! I really find him unbearable. I'd hate to have a neighbour like him and I wouldn't go near his market stall. It's a shame he wasn't blown up by the hairspray in the fire. I agree that Kat's storyline should have been treated with more care and understanding. There should have been more scenes where she comes to terms with her scars on her face and neck while looking in the mirror or talking to Stacey. I would have liked to see her talking to a psychologist in DEPTH not just a key worker and a blink and you miss it meeting. Linda's rape, Stan's illness and Carol's cancer were all done much better. I DO enjoy the Carters but would like to see more of Kat's story. Maybe they will give Kat a brand new storyline in the spinoff and that's why they're not giving her much now in Eastenders. Even so a suicide storyline should have been done better.
