That's a great way to try out new characters. Her 'kids' could be from 0-40 years old.

Me neither. No doubt they will have an awful introduction and pop up when and as they please, after being off screen for 6 weeks or so, and you can guarantee that at least one of them will be harbouring a shocking secret!.

Wonder if the new gay character DTC mentioned coming in a few months could be one of her foster kids?

I agree with you Essex_Boy. However, it's the development that is the problem. Donna, Kush, etc... Have so much potential, but they have been developed so poorly.

Yes i agree. They really have got a blank canvas as to the type of charters they want to introduce and they do,'t even need to be specific about numbers as the kids might well not know each other if they were fostered at different times.

I don't like any actors coming in claiming to be 'the new such and such' - asking for trouble but that is probably the Journalist rather than her.

How do we know if we're going to care about them or not before they've appeared?

As long as there isn't an overload of new comers it could be good.

It just feels like they're making this show up as they go along ATM. There's far too many nicey nice dull characters ATM IMO. DTC has introduced so many characters since he came in and so many have been hard for the audience to connect with (Lee, Tosh, Les & Pam for example). This article does suggest that some of her kids will be trouble, which is good. The show lacks excitement ATM and they need to spice things up. I'm just sick of this overload of new characters. Can't they focus on the ones they already have for a change?.

I agree about Lee, Les, Pam and Tosh, they have served no real purpose thus far except the odd filler scene why would Claudette's kids be any better. Fingers crossed they'll bring something good though, I guess with her role as a foster parent they can literally bring in any type of character age wise and ethnicity wise too which is handy.

Well, the last thing we need is for EastEnders to become 'The dumping ground', so let's hope they don't take this OTT. I think they'd be better off having 1 or 2 guest roles first, to see if it works... Les & Pam are the type of characters that a new EP would axe, when clearing out deadwood to start a fresh. Something DTC did when he first came, but he's brought in pointless characters now aswell. Why can't we have characters like Steve Owen or Tiffany Mitchell these days?.

Tosh was meant to be unlikeable wasn't she? I've found Les and Pam fine, the show needs 'second tier' characters and i think they've fitted in well. There is clearly more to come with them and Claudette is going to be part of that. Lee i do agree to a certain extent but again, they've yet to go into his Army experiences in any detail.

The Show will die on its feet without new characters constantly being introduced and they have to be given a chance. No character was well loved before they appeared.

There does seem to be an issue creating big new character, even when Ronnie and Roxy first arrived it was with a bang and added some real excitement to the show. Now character just drop in like extras to begin with and have no impact or storylines.

I'm not sure i can agree about Les, Pam and Lee having served no purpose. Have people already forgotten they were among the last suspects to be eliminated in the Lucy muder plot? So they served a purpose as red herring there for 10 months if nothing else. Les was also central to the Nick cotton faked death arc.

DTC should think about clearing out some of the current cast before introducing more.

I'm getting bored with all the negative comments about EE on here.

Everyone complained when Newman and Kirkwood were in charge and the lack of new fresh characters. Now we've got them, people are still complaining.

I think EE has the right balance of new characters and older ones. I'm excited about the new faces and I'm looking forward to what DTC has in store. He has really made EE more watchable this past year or so.

And I'm sick of hearing about people praising dtc to the high heavens!!.. yep the show is more watchable... I'm sick of seeing that also even though I've just said it myself.

Most comments I see about Les & Pam on social media, is that they're irrelevant and I can't disagree. Them being suspects in the Lucy Beale murder was laughable...
