As soon as I saw the 'mouth' move I could tell it wasn't real. It looked too clean for a white dog.

However, I will accept that you are probably one of the 45% of the population that thinks that dogs, (other than "working" dogs, such as guide dogs, sheep dogs, sniffer dogs and the like), are wonderful wonderful creatures that everyone must, without question, adore and praise at every opportunity.

You may have your opinion, but then, so do I but, unlike you, I try to express it without being insulting to others.”

Ashley won BGT and Pudsey has a movie??

I suspect he's just a normal ventriloquist, who has a connection at Syco, who called him up, sent him a recording of Todd Oliver and his talking dog from America's Got Talent, and then asked him "can you get a dog and do this on BGT?"

He's French for the same reason that most of the ringer acts have been foreign. When Syco wants to dummy up an act like this based on AGT, they don't want to fish in their normal pool of British talent, because it's easier to claim it's some exotic foreign act that showed up at BGT's doorstep if they haven't been performing a totally different act locally that can be more easily checked on.

Come off it. The dog didn't look petrified at all.

They explained this on This Morning today, it is a mask. Ashley (of Pudsey fame) was there for the BGT discussion item and didn't seem too happy about the dog's welfare despite Holden insisting that they take great care of animals on the show.

To hear Simon say "i don't know how you made that dog talk" is one of the most embarrassing things I've seen recently. Either Simon is seriously thick, or he knows just how thick the public are and would genuinely believe the dog was talking.

Sadly I fear the latter is more accurate. ”

I didn't see the show but my friend did, and she told me about a brilliant talking dog. So she must have thought it was genuine

What?

I watched the show on Saturday and she wasn't shaking or bulging at all. And yes, I was definitely watching in HD.

I thought it was a rubbish act. A lot of people here seem to think it was cruel...I don't really think it was neccessarily cruel. I just thought it was rubbish and unfunny. It was so obvious that there was some sort of mouth piece over the dogs mouth. It wasn't done very well at all. How on earth can people seriously believe that the dog was talking/opening his mouth like that? Seriously?! Also, as other people here have already mentioned, Simon is an absolute liar as the same act has appeared on America's Got Talent...which he produces.

There wasn't much she could say as I don't doubt that Simon is a powerful influence on her success. But like myself, she was unsure about the ethics of this act. We all have our opinions based on what we saw, but we don't know for sure whether or not Wendy is uncomfortable wearing this prosthesis.

Initially I was very amused by it and tried to work out how it was done, but my pleasure was spoilt by discovering that the dog was wearing a prostheis. Now the 'secret' is out, is there any point to this act?

In view of all of this poster's responses Dalekbuster is clearly in denial. <rolls eyes>
The close up of Wendy further up thread clearly shows the prosthesis, those plastic teeth are a really poor fake on close inspection, although from a distance, they looked pretty good. It was an amusing act untill we heard about the prosthesis.
I don't think the dog was shaking, but i wasn't happy about the position of the tail, it looked really odd, and it wasn't wagging. Most performing dogs who enjoy what they are doing wag their tails continuously - watch the little dog that kept chasing Ant.

Given how dogs can be trained to dance, it's not much of a stretch of logic to assume they can be trained to open and close their mouths at the right points.

I doubt he watches every act. Just because he's a producer on the show doesn't mean he watches the entire thing.

The teeth don't look plastic at all to me. The dog's mouth looks just as real as mine (which is real).

Really? I think it's a huge stretch of logic. There are many dancing dogs but I can't think of a single talking dog who can open and close his mouth at the exact time its owner speaks and there's online videos showing any dog doing it either. It's absolutely ridiculous to think it could happen and I do wonder about the sanity of the viewers who watched it and actually believed it was real/believe a sog could be traiend to do it.

He may not have watched the whole thing, no. But he's a producer of she show...he would have watched each act and would have known who was appearing on it.

And yet you couldn't see (and still deny) that the dog was clearly wearing a false nose/mouth.

Considering dancing requires dogs to stand up on their back legs, I would have thought it would be harder for a dog to dance.

I very much doubt it. He's a very busy man, who (let's not forget) is a father now.
