Yay I got two pointless answers in that final round, Lausanne and Diamonds and pearls.
It helped that I actually went to the Diamond league athletics meeting in 2014 in Lausanne. ( and Prince's demise of course brought the other one to mind)

Got Algeria and Switzerland on Friday too. I'm on such a roll, maybe I should have played Euromillions on Friday.

I imagine it must be very frustrating for the contestants on the skipped episodes, waiting all these months from recording to actually being shown, and then not.”

Must have been at least two - if Thursday had followed on from Wednesday then Scottish Laura and Mark would have been on, yet the show shown on Thursday had three returning mystery pairs and their first show had seen a win for a Japanese contestant who would have taken the fourth slot so it can't have featured L&M.

Hopefully it was a scheduling error and not due to something unfortunate regarding a contestant post recording.

Usual Twitter bullshit. The answer was not racist in the slightest.

That was racism?? Get a grip!

In fact I wouldn't have said it for the simple reason I have never heard of Cornershop

This article is utterly ridiculous. I'm sure Keith Chegwin and Iain Lee would have still answered 'Cornershop' if the girls had white skin. You can't say anything these days without somebody branding you as a racist.

If anyone was racist, it was the question setter who only seems to associate spices with Asians.

I imagine the picture came from a picture archive and wasn't specially taken for the programme. And the picture would have been chosen because it had spices and girls in it. The colour of the girls' skin is irrelevant.

Indeed, BTW, for what it's worth, I thought Cornershop.

Apparently I'm a casual racist too, according tot hat article. It was more it was actually a shop that gaveme my idea, and the Cornershop hit was from about then.

The Asian girls were actually customers, so the thought that it means all Asians run Cornershops is a tad silly.

Your original comment in #5228 was ambiguous. Without any context, I took it to mean you had heard a comment you thought was racist. Sorry if I misunderstood.

Missed the show last night but just watched the clip. How the hell anyone can think that was racist I don't know, the world has gone bloody mad.

Apparently two newspapers ran with the story today, we know it's a slow news day as the headlines on BBC this morning was about Leicester winning the premiership.

Another non-story stirring up sh1t where it's not needed.

Of course it is. I was just highlighting that almost anything can be construed as racist these days.

Also, I've noticed that any newspaper articles based on social media posts tend to be written by the most lazy journalists.

The complainers are also racist as well, as they made the connection of the cornershop and the 2 indian girls.

I also immediately said , Cornershop

Was amazed Cheggers & Iain Lee said the same.

After a moment of reflection I realised that it probably was a sub consciously racist remark, and felt suitably ashamed.

Are you for real? 2 girls standing in a shop, even though they were asian is in no way racist. I love the way people on these threads come out of the woodwork to post their faux outrage or embarrassment about something totally innocuous.

Cornershop was my first thought for that answer as well...

I tweeted about it to Richard, and the Pointless Twitter account/page, and didn't get a response from either of them.

...yep it's not that odd, you get a short amount of time and you go for the first think that pops into your head, and there's a shop there. Iain realized it giving it a bit longer to reflect.

I'm not particularly annoyed at the Twitter people for jumping to a stupid conclusion, no crime in being that idiotic. I am a bit annoyed about the newspapers, particularly as they're the first to scream when something is "PC GONE MAD!!!!!"

Clear BBC bashing, mixed in with shoddy journalism as any "twitter-storm" article clearly is, without fail.

Think Lee should not talk about it, as his reactions become a story in itself. Probably why #Pointless and Osman are staying quiet. A denial of anything actually becomes a story, that's journalism for you.

Mail to put it on their front-page tomorrow I guess.

This says it all about Twitter users. Shame Twitter can't be shut down, it's a curse.
