I haven't looked through all 232 pages, so I don't know if this has been commented on. It's a pity that Alexander can't do ad-lib responses to Richard Osmans quips. He does occasionally but, most of the time just stares back and goes 'yeah'. Many funny conversations are denied us. I often fill in the witty riposte myself but, no-one can hear it, which is the worst tragedy in the whole world........ever.

Odd how some people can ad-lib and, some can't, it says here in this How To Do Ad-libs Instruction Manual.

I bet Ben Miller's great at ad-libs...

As for the John Williams themes, I got ET and struggled on all the others. It's surprising how many are so familiar but differentiating between films is not always that easy.

I think they were 'renditions' of the music rather than the original pieces. That makes it even harder.

Today's show (celebrity special - Pop). Sandie Shaw making a spectacle of herself.

Why are they showing celebrity episodes during the week? I thought these were held back for Saturdays? Are the ratings slipping for the normal episodes?

I went to a recording of "Insert name here", a not very good panel show hosted by Sue Perkins with Richard Osman and Josh Widdicombe as team captains. Richard was very good at ad-libbing. Far better than either of the two professional comedians. Most of his ad-libs didn't make it to the final edit, but without him, they'd have had even less material for the broadcast.

Do keep up! They are currently running back to back repeats of celebrity specials instead of ordinary repeats, possibly in the hope someone will watch.

A couple of shouty 8-year-old girls would have been better behaved. I was so disappointed that they didn't vanish after round 1.

The Bananarama girls were a class act.

I'd guess that episode 1 was a winning jackpot. The beeb like to start a run at £1000 and keep going until it's won.

the idea of a "jackpot" in pointless is completely risible.

Nice to see Sandie Shaw continuing the good impression she made in "Brexit Question Time".

finally a couple of days ago Phil (The Power) Taylor espoused Sir Isaac newton as a Nobel Prize winner in 1921, for his theory of relativity.

Just out of interest, when was the last time we had a new pointless broadcast?

Must of been back in April/May?

Incredible that they've put repeats on for about 3 months straight!

In what way? What else would you call it? I'd rather money was spent on programmes than huge amounts of prize money. Most contestants aren't the money-grabbing kind anyway and the main thing is the trophy.

And Sheila Ferguson - again. Every time she's on she's so over the top, playing to the audience and being thoroughly irritating. Not very big on GK, she hardly ever knows any answers or gets them right as she didn't yesterday, scoring 100 again. I loved it when Richard appealed to everyone to focus on the competition after her go - her face was a picture

I get sent an e mail from Be On Screen, its alerts to shows after contestants etc and Pointless are advertising for contestants again if any of you fancy applying.

New episodes next week. Wonder how long these are going to last before we're back to repeats.

There's a celebrity episode of this on tomorrow night with comedy actors, Richard Gibson (Herr Flick) and Vicki Michelle (Yvette) are on it so I'm going to record it!

How is it that 98 people know a A fish called Wanda but things like really obvious word anagrams score a lot less than that?
