Shocked that so many were so poor on the dates, and even more so that Richard said he struggled with them. The vast majority were really easy.

For some maybe. I knew only two on the first board (Golden Jubilee and London Olympics) and two on the second (D-Day anniversary and Millennium). And my general knowledge in the main is pretty good.
