Laxman was never much of a one day player. I'd have probably said Darren Lehmann.

It would be better if any of them had anything interesting to say.

I did not mind the contestants as much but to quote my boyfriend "Bloody Pointless again"
As much as I like it (the regular weekday ones) I do agree a bit, it seems to be on EVERY day lately, even when I expected it to be off in the weekends due to the Paralymics, it is as if the BBC really wants to force it in the programming, I can understand people who don't watch it do get annoyed when seeiing it on the listing again

Because he thinks the car is more important than the driver

As without the car there would be no sport
Also, he's very anti-pollution; I read somewhere that he doesn't drive as he is anti-car.

Just (finally) watched the comedy celebrity edition from a couple of weeks ago.

Well done to Richard and Vicki, (Team Allo Allo), i knew they would do well it's a shame they didn't get a pointless answer though!

And just how adorable is Richard Gibson?♥♥♥♥

I've never heard his proper voice before, what a lovely soft and plummy accent he's got!♥♥♥

Pointless Celebrities Formula 1 special (repeat) on BBC1 right now. Alistair is probably booing his TV as I type.

I was amused that Formula 1 people could only name one RAF station (and that was a well known one) when quite a few race tracks are old airfields as well as them being regular users of British airports and again most being old RAF airfields.

I was wondering that as well, but I think they had to be currently active stations.

And in cricket, the bat, ball and stumps are more important than the players because without them there'd be no game. The same could be said of any sport that uses equipment.

Doesn't he realise just how fit those F1 drivers have to be?

It's nonsense to compare inanimate objects with a vehicle containing a huge engine and sophisticated electronics.

(Yes I know a car is inanimate too, but I think you get my drift.)

I think they just said 'RAF stations'. nothing about active and not specifically airfields. Someone with a bit of knowledge could have got three Pointless answers easily even if they still had to be active - Remote Radar Heads are unlikely to be known by many people!

But bat, ball and stumps have to meet a specification which will rarely change. I can't imagine even the Australians spending many millions of pounds on developing improved stumps or even bats and then winning every game because of that. The drivers are fit but hardly the level of fitness achieved by athletes with many hours of fitness related training every day - Hamilton's 'training' seems to take place mostly in nightclubs with expensive young ladies!
