"I understand you are unhappy that Pointless is scheduled to broadcast repeats from past series during the coming week. Audience figures and viewers' comments show that people welcome the opportunity to see programmes they may have missed. It's also very much appreciated when viewers are given the opportunity to view past programmes that they once thoroughly enjoyed the first time round. The repeat of programmes also enables new generations to discover them, who have grown up since they were first aired. The BBC aims to show repeats only where there is a genuine public interest and demand. Our repeats policy inevitably represents a compromise between different interests and is kept under constant review. We will make changes if we believe they are necessary in light of audience feedback. Series 15 of Pointless has come to an end, but the show is currently in the process of recording the new series. The programme is not a live broadcast and so there is inevitably a post-production period which follows filming. We are sorry that you feel the wait between new series is too long. You can be assured that I have registered your complaint on our daily Audience Feedback Report to be seen by the Pointless team. This report is also seen by senior management and helps to shape future broadcasting and policy decisions made by the BBC. Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us about this. Kind regards Hugh Dignan BBC Complaints Team" Feel free to pick that apart as required

Yes. As I've got very p.., ahem, cheesed off with the amount of repeats, or lack of new episodes, we keep getting, and as I was at a loose end I sent a complaint to the BBC via their website, and actually got this reply just today:

But why constantly switch from new episodes for 3 weeks to old epsiodes for 3 months? |

That argument really doesn't hold up now we have Iplayer & various catch up devices. |

I don't think I know of any other show that repeats so often.
It gets boring after a while. |

At first I thought how daft it was to choose the three Baltic states next to each other, and when Tallinn scored one point, I was sure the other two would be similar. Surely Riga is better known than Tallinn? Weird. |

Bullshit! Didn't Richard say on Twitter that they recorded over 250 episodes?

These include new editions of Pointless Celebrities, some of which have already been screened on Saturday evenings recently. I do hope they give the new ones a good run, without needless interruption. They include the 1000th episode, which was recorded in the spring. |

I was just getting back into Pointless after not watching it for a while. I switched it on tonight and thought where are the previous contestants who should be on again?
Does anyone know when the new episodes will air? And who really wants to watch repeats of old quiz shows? |

The BBC should just replace the 5pm slot with something else when Pointless finishes its series run. Channel 4 in the late noughties used to alternate Paul O'Grady with Richard & Judy instead of relying on repeats for their old 5pm slots. I'd like BBC to do something similar. |

Was a bit worried about Aliona there, very difficult to have a word round when it's not in your native language, especially with a language with a completely different alphabet.
