£250 each, that's even worse. And most times I would imagine that's all the charity will get, because the jackpot is pretty hard to win. On Bullseye they used to get a pro darts player on to throw for charity and they got nine darts at the board. Whatever they scored was given to the winnng team's chosen charity. If they got 301 or more it was doubled. And that was thirty years ago.
Even if all the celebs are appearing for nothing, or a nominal fee, they'll presumably get expenses. The cost of producing the programme and paying everybody in the studio must dwarf the amount they're playing for. You could argue that the celeb shows really are pointless, at least they are in terms of raising money for charity. They should be playing for a meaningful sum of money, otherwise why bother having special celeb editions?
I think the winning pair should get £5,000 between them if they win the jackpot and a thousand each if they don't. That's hardly going to break the bank, in fact it's a drop in the ocean considering the sums of money the BBC spends on its talent and its army of managers and administrators.
There would be no need to increase the prize money for the normal editions.
