Today's round 1 question was naming countries that are smaller in area than the UK. Alexander, to my surprise, said that this was a difficult one. I beg to differ, this was easy with over 100 possible answers. Think of all the small islands for a start.

I cringed when the answers of Bermuda and Vatican City were given. Pointless contestants have been caught out by these two before, not countries by Pointless rules.

Which is why it's difficult. Which of those small islands are actually countries under Pointless rules, one must wonder as you're stood there under the lights with the audience glaring at you.

Yes. As any contestants have said, their minds go blank. Think I'd even forget my own name, which is why I wouldn't go on a TV quiz show.

A friend went on a TV show many, many years ago just to be interviewed and was given an alcoholic drink in the green room to help him relax before going in front of the cameras. He was on medication which reacted with the alcohol and he was nearly comatose, talking gibberish in answer to questions.

Don't think they do that now, but it's obvious that some can't cope with the tension.

I've not been on Pointless, but I think round 1 would do for me, when you have a good answer in your head, then Xander blathers on about what you get up to in your spare time or whatever. By the time that's over, I'm sure I would have forgotten what I was going to say
