Didn't the girl have no shame when she admitted she didn't know where the Channel Islands were?
She's Australian. It wasn't as bad as the United Kingdom answer the other pair gave.

Oh, please. 90% of the British population couldn't tell you what direction you travel in to get from Northampton to Southampton. The Channel Islands? What are they?

Looking at the Pointless schedule, new episodes return on December 12th for THREE DAYS, and then return to Series 14 repeats.....!!

Is it part of Alexander Armstrong's contract that he has to be allowed to have a guess at the answer to show what a clever clogs he is?

Of course! I don't think any of us can begin to imagine how tedious it must be recording these back to back for weeks on end. Let the man have a bit of fun!

What, like a few weeks at a time?

Not like normal people 50 or so weeks at a time.

My heart goes out to those poor quiz show presenters,

No excuse. I know where Tasmania is

Still not as bad as the Scottish pair, who gave the "United Kingdom" reply to the "Which is the only Channel Island with a railway?" question.

Or the girl who didn't know a single British bird.

Yeah? What about Kangaroo Island, Bathurst Island, Fraser Island (all of which are still far larger and closer to the mainland than any of the Channel Islands)?

Nobody did very well in that round, many of them were guessing.

If anybody's working 50 weeks a year then they need a word in the ear of their union rep!

It's absolutely appalling. The Chase record 190 episodes per series and new eps are on all the time, in the same time period Pointless record 110 and repeats are on constantly. Disgusting for the BBC's prime tea time quiz.

Except for the 11 weeks this summer when they weren't, as you seem conveniently to have forgotten. Pretty sure that new episodes of Pointless has not yet made it to either the UN or EU declarations of human rights!

I know you'd bite Baz I'll post what I posted on the ratings thread which you conveniently forgot to respond to.

Yes, The Chase had a summer break, this lasted from 13 June–26 August.

Pointless also had a summer break, but weirdly it lasted longer. 24 May–26 August. It also had a break from 21 March–19 April, and the new series has been on a break 21 November - 9 December. Wikipedia doesn't say but I'm sure they took another break from 20 September - 24 October as this was the gap between the two series.

Meanwhile, The Chase has run new episodes on every other day this year.

So it looks like The Chase has run a lot more new episodes this year than Pointless. ITV wins.

If putting quantity ahead of quality is winning, yes, yes it does!

Well, the ratings would suggest The Chase is ahead in quality as well, so that's another win!

What do you think about all those breaks Pointless has had, far longer than The Chase?

It's really not a problem to switch off my television set and go and do something less boring instead! I suppose it would be annoying if I'd lost the remote and daren't switch channels or turn off for fear that it wouldn't be possible to watch ever again, but really, how is this a big deal otherwise? I can recommend a couple of good addiction therapists if that helps!

For what? I don't even watch Pointless

As I thought, you haven't said what you think about all the breaks Pointless takes with their new eps.

I would have thought my indifference shines through. I am not offended, bothered, concerned, or otherwise emotionally stirred by the breaks. In my youth quiz shows were once a week for 3 or 4 months a year at most. I'm hardly going to fall apart because there's 'only' 110 episodes of Pointless a year!

Series 16 back on 12th December but only for 3 episodes. What is even the point of that?!

Oh that's good to know. Why couldn't they have put something else on instead of 15 DAYS of repeats?
