It's a common misspelling, Mike Reid was the comedian and Eastenders star and Mike Read was the DJ

Did I miss the bit where they explained to Sarah why Paris isn't a country, ending in two syllables?
No, Richard said he would explain but we didn't see him doing that. It may have been edited out.

I thought of that too, but strangely I thought Richard said at the end that it wouldn't be accepted as it is now called Cote d'Ivoire.

On the United Nations website this country is shown as "Côte d'Ivoire (also known as the Ivory Coast)".

Did that student seriously say Paris ??? We all laughed out loud here . Even the cat sniggered
Can we put it down to brain freeze on Sarah's part. Going first she had no time to think of an answer (all her thinking time taken up by Xander asking her what she does in her spare time AGAIN.) and tough anyway to think of a correct answer when there was only 18 of them (quite a lot of them in Europe though.

Did I miss the bit where they explained to Sarah why Paris isn't a country, ending in two syllables?
Not quite sure why Richard couldn't explain at the time - unless he was thinking "F*** you. If you don't know why that's a wrong answer, I'm not telling you."

I think that answer is up there in the annals of stupid answers along with Burt Kwouk....

The look that Sarah got from her partner when she said Paris was priceless - if there was ever a death stare then that was it. Bet the journey home was interesting

From the Pointless twitter feed, after reminding viewers that the programme is back to 5.15 from tomorrow ..."We'll always have Paris."

Her partner looked totally bored throughout and looking round as if she didn't know where she was.

I was in the audience for the episode (recorded last March I think). Her partner was sitting alone at the back of the studio at the end of the show and not looking pleased with life.
