They have shown 'Don't Wait Up' before so hopefully that will be a possibility.
I think Butterflies has been on Drama recently (along with Just Good Friends). Dear John hasn't been shown for a while but i have the DVD boxset. |

Just Good Friends was a brutally bad show. Waste of a 30 minute slot having re-runs.

I remember about 20 years ago, me and my parents went to see Paul Nicholas in Barnum. It was so bad, we left at the interval!

Another vote for 'Don't Wait Up' ...... have the first 2 series, but they stopped releasing them after that. Hope they show it again

Could'nt wait for the snooker break as im impatient so im carrying on watching the series now.
Something I did'nt realise till today was that Jan Francis was actually almost a decade older then Penny in the show. Jan was 36 when the first series aired and the character of Penny was just 27. Of course, her youthful looks and impish charm made it easy to play a younger character. |

Sadly that's a common thing for many of these series, that and the constantly anoying changes or removing of music due to rights issues on the dvd releases which is why when they are shown on on tv on the HD channel, you know it's the best chance you will likely get to see them again in full.

Not sure if anyone is still watching this after the long break due to the snooker but unless I missed it, it seems like they've decided to skip the 1984 Christmas special episode and how straight into series 3, this is a shame as I was hoping for the chance to watch it without the missing audio due to stupid music rights issues, but alas no luck.. Finishing this week, then from next week it looks like the slot will be filled by Yes Minister, which should take it up until Wimbledon now I guess..

I saw the Eiffel Tower/ Paris episode recently and had to rethink my original opinion that Jan Francis was a bit soppy and nowt special , she looked rather hot in that episode.

Im the complete opposite. I dont like series 3 Penny at all. The big hairsprayed hair, the white face make up and the business power suits are all a real turn off for me. I much prefer the sweet quiet mousey Penny in her cute jumpers.

Also, in the Paris episodes they kept making Penny wear hats to show how sophisticated she had become. I remember hearing that the writer John Sullivan once put into the script: " Vince and Penny are in bed together. She is not wearing a f---king hat. "
I had a massive crush on Paul Nicholas when this was first on but when I saw him at Chichester 2-3 years ago, he hadn't aged well. |

I loved this, one of the classics, watched it when it was repeated on Drama not long back.

Enjoying this and have introduced this and 'Are you being served?' To 14 year old daughter.
Another vote for 'Dear John'. Really enjoyed that series, vastly underrated IMHO. |

They started some repeats again on BBC2 today, anyone see them? It wasn't a show I appreciated in my youth, but now there's an element of nostalgia and I can relate to the characters more as I've gotten older. Nicholas and Francis were perfectly cast.

The bitter sweet nature also helps and I love seeing the 80s in tv shows. |

It must have been one of the first series to have a gag (even if a subtle one) the end of the credits. |

Penny's mother Daphne stole the show for me, her one liners were hilarious.
I remember when Rita, Vince's common mother, dropped in on her unexpectedly, and her reaction was, "If had known you were coming I would have bought some Spam!"
