The longer you leave it the better. Don't worry. I've had St Tropez spray tans before and have looked absolutely horrendous, but I've gone 24 hours and then washed it off and it looks fantastic.

How did you spend those 8 hours, OP? I'm not anti-spray tans, I just don't know if I could commit 8 hours every time!

Just out of interest, what sort of a spray tan was it? St Tropez? Fake Bake? I've had a St Tropez one done a few times and the end result after you shower is fantastic. However, there is no way you could go out shopping etc just after you've had it done. I wouldn't even go out in public! When I first have it done I look a god awful colour...dark red/orange/black. I go strright home and wait the 8 hours (or overnight) and then shower and it's fine.

See, this is what I wondered. I assumed until you wash it off, it's pretty grim.

just wonderin if i showered like 7 hours rather than 8 would it make much of a difference or wash the tan away???
Ive got another spray tan on saturday at 10am (the earliest they can do) but this time i have an event that evening that i think might start a bit earlier like 6ish so i'll need to be gettin ready at like 5 at latest so thats like 7 hours after the spray tan they say you should wait 8 hours but would 1 hour do that much diference?? |

You should get the spray tan the day before and wait as long as possible before showering (overnight even). The longer you leave it, the better the tan will look and the longer it will last. When they say 8 hours that's the minimum.

I always have spray tan early evening then shower in the morning. Best tan I've had is Xen Tan, it looked good even before I washed it off

I always get it done the day before and wash it off the next morning. If I have nowhere to go the next day I leave it until late on in the day to wash off. The only brand that works for me is Fake Bake.

Find out what David Dickinson does and then do the exact opposite. Better still, try actually putting on sunscreen and walking around in the sunshine for a few hours. Remember to use Factor 50 on your feet, or people will think you just have a fake tan.
