As much as I like talking about EastEnders' current storylines on this forum, I feel like we need a thread to pay homage to some of the lovely things we have seen on the show for the past 30 years. I also wanted a happy thread, as we've had a few complaining threads most recently.

What have been your three all-time favourite EastEnders storylines? What are your earliest memories of the show for the long time viewers? What made you want to start watching the show?

The Little Mo saga was probably one of the best of that era. I forget who was EP at the time, but it was a strong storyline and it ran very smoothly and naturally which I like.

Tiffany's shock death - that was so emotional
The reveal of Sharongate - fabulous acting from Ross Kemp, Letitia Dean and Steve McFadden
Den Watts' 2nd death - I just loved the entire episode and I was shocked when Chrissie delivered the final blow because the mags made me think Zoe was the killer
Dennis' death - so sad!
Pat's death

I was around 9 when it started I watched it with my parents, Soaps to me sucked big time at that age, But EE seemed different and more watchable to me back then.

Early naughties was a great era for Eastenders. Kat, Zoe Steve, Dan. Late nighties were also good. Tiffani's death was just too sad though! Still not completely over it.

I started watching in '02 and I remember a lot of the storylines back then very well. I think '07 topped it when it came around, though.

"What have been your three all-time favourite EastEnders storylines?"

1. Steve Owen vs Matthew Rose. A real for of EE. Matthew's exit was one of the best ever moments in the show's history. Steve was one of the best villains in this show's history. Killing him off was a major mistake.

2. Dirty Den's death. For me 2005 was MADE by Chrissie and Sam. They were coming off a really weak 2004 and this storyline, along with those two character in particular, just made it so memorable until today.

3. Who Shot Phil Mitchell? Out of the three main whodunits, this one is still my favourite one.

(Honourable mentions - Archie versus the Square, Janine/Barry and then Janine/Laura, Chryed, Mad May versus Dawn Swann).

"What are your earliest memories of the show for the long time viewers?"

The Blackpool episodes in summer 1996. I loved Tiffany from then on and was so gutted when she died.

"What made you want to start watching the show?"

I think it was those episodes, as well as the fact that classmates in primary school had started watching the soaps (I was just about to start Year 5) so there was something to talk about.

This was the first storyline that got me hooked on Eastenders and still probably my favourite.

Cindy Beale and David Wickes affair - 1995/96 (great great long arc with an explosive finale)
Tiffany and Grants turbulent relationship - 1995 - 98 (Just loved it all such chemistry with an amazing last couple of months from the time of Tiff falling down the Vics stairs to her death)

My faves the entire second half of the nineties was amazing in general.

It was well acted.

I was so creeped out by it. That was also when my loathing for Tanya began. Using max's fear of being buried alive was just completely twisted.

I think though that it was Sean who got into her head. He reminded her of all the bad things that he'd done, and told her to do something about it. I didn't know she drugged him at first, I thought she was on his side. But when he passed out, I was like, "Nooo..." - It was certainly creepy.

She treated Sean badly too imo. She used his feelings for her got him to help and then dumped him.

Granted he wasn't very stable 😄

I'm not a fan of Tanya although Jo Joyner is a good actress.

I've always liked Tanya but obviously the burying and sleeping with Jack was a low point for her.

I started watching around 2000/2001 when I was only 9 or 10 and i've pretty much stayed watching it ever since!

The big storylines that always stick out in my memory are

the Zoe/Kat reveal
Who shot Phil? (I was sure it was Ian lol)
Steve Owens death (my best friend had the biggest crush on Martin Kemp and was devastated lol),
Jamie Mitchells death (my turn to be devastated)
the whole Sharon/Dennis forbidden love storyline (His death remains to this day the saddest of all the soap deaths I've watched)
