If true, then that will be the final death knell in the Carter coffin.... The family have already been lumbered with 6 years worth of big storylines, so it would be a big step too far!

I have thought this for a while. Babe was once comforting Shirley by stroking her hair in a motherly way, and there have been a couple of remarks about Babe not knowing what it is like to have a child. Babe harboured Shirley and helped her to hide after she shot Phil and believed she had killed him.

I think this is why she sprung into action and got the teenage Shirley down to the caravan to have her baby, then Sylvie brought him back to be passed off as Stan's child - the son he had always wanted.

I think many years ago Sylvie had helped her sister Babe out in much the same way - passing off Babe's daughter as her own when she reconciled with Stan after a break.

That would be a bit of a joke, considering that just four months ago we had the Shirley/Mick reveal.

I mean, what would be next? Dean is actually Kevin's son? Zsa Zsa is Mick's daughter? Soon we'll have a completely different family tree to the one we started out with.

Hope not. Wasn't it enough that Mick is Shirley's son?

I do personally think Babe has a secret/estranged child though.

Wouldn't another secret child in the family be a tad overkill?

I'm confused as it is, without having to endure yet more family twists. I really think the Carters could be improved if Lee pi**ed off back to the army, Tina left to start a new life and the rest were stripped down! But I really dislike Linda so much, I think she's been damaged beyond repair now, so I hope a future EP kills the gurning old bi**h off and does the majority of viewers a favour. Mick can stay though

Why don't people like Linda?
To be honest she's not my fave character but it's more that she's not my kinda person, than a particular dislike. In real life I wouldn't pick her as a friend but I don't get the strong dislike?

I don't really like Linda, I've just not warmed to her, don't know what it is. But then Shirley and Stan are my favourite Carters. But Stan is gone.

It would be one twist to many. It means nearly every one of the Carter family having a different relative to the one they had to start with: -

Dean thinking his father was Kevin but it turns out to be Buster. He has also gained a brother
Mick thought Shirley was his sister but she turns out to be his mother. His father Stan is now his Grandfather
Tina thought Mick was her brother but he now turns out to be her nephew
Johnny, Lee & Nancy thought that Shirley was their Auntie but she is now their grandmother. Their grandfather is now their Great-Grandfather

If Babe does turn out to be Shirley's mother, Tina has gone from having two siblings to having none as Shirley wouldn't be her sister either.

I sometimes sit with bated breath and imagine little Peggy materialsing from behind the Queen Vic bust during a Carter dinner. Then she shrieks: "You Carters think you're all that, when really, you're just a bunch of hyprocrites, especially you Linda Carter boring us all to death with your faaaamily morals!"

Linda - "You must be Peggy. Can I get yo...

Peggy - "Oh save your hospitality for some other fool you silly blonde tart!"

Mick - "You've had your fun grandma, now git outta ma booza, before I say something I regret!"

Peggy - "I don't think you know who you're dealing with. I ain't some little old lady - I'm Peggy Mitchell!"

Mick then grabs Peggy by the arm and attempts to remove her from the Vic, that is until a familiar voice says "Get your hands off her". Mick stops in his tracks and looks on in horror at who stands before him

Grant - "I agree with mum. You're all fu**king idiots, the whole lot of you!"

Mick cries like a baby and the rest flee from the Vic. Little Peggy looks up to Grant and says "Ahh, it's good to be home" followed by her iconic giggle. *DUFF DUFF*

That's true. I would like to see more of Shirley/Sylvie and Sylvie/Babe.

In Hollyoaks, this would be true. But I can't see it, it would just be way too much. Already we've had Mick, Dean and Carly all growing up not knowing one or both of their real parents, to add Shirley to this group would be ridiculous.

To be honest this would have been preferable to the ridiculous Shirley/Mick scenario in my opinion. But it would be too ridiculous now.

However since they did the Mick/Shirley Itnwould be too much. No more secrets need to come out as off yet. The main carters (Mick, Linda and Shirley) need a quiet period
