Since when was an article in The Mirror considered confirmation of anything?

Although I don't trust any of the newspapers they're as good a source as any right now. Whilst I'm taking this Davros development with a massive pinch of salt, they've been right a few times. They reported that Jenna Coleman was staying in the show for Series 9 ahead of Last Christmas, and also mentioned a sequence where we'd see her as an elderly woman. And though they also reported that she was leaving last year, we now know that she was in fact considering it.

Of course they may have just had lucky coincidences and this may amount to absolutely nothing, but the story ties in with what a couple of spoilerhounds have been saying for months and the concept works around what we know so far - though that is probably because we know so little

Surely any davros story would be reserved for a series finale?? ... besides i thought it was established already that ep one features a return of missy

Will Davros be a woman too?

Not necessarily. Now the Master/Missy is around in other episodes which aren't the finale, I think it's fair game now - anyone could pop up anytime. (And that's great IMO, cos saving 'big name characters' for finales only would become very tired and repetitive.)

Not really. There's absolutely no proof whatsoever that Davros will be in the forthcoming season.
All this fuss has stemmed from a completely unsubstantiated story in a tabloid, hardly the most reliable source ever.
Until this rumour is confirmed (or denied) by the BBC then, for me, any cats remain firmly in their bags...

Whilst I agree with the cats-kept-in-bags motion, it should be added for the sake of clarity that the Davros concept was previously also brought up by a few (at least two) spoilerhounds who frequent on GB. They were saying this months ago, and I think an origins story for the character may have also been alluded to. Of course there are Davros and Master return theories every single year, so it may also prove to be a case of 'they had to be right eventually'.

It's obvious lies, Missy is in this where? UNIT has to do with this in what way? The (Very few) filming pics/videos we have has nothing to do with this. Maybe this is the finale, but definitely not the beggining episode

There was a lot filmed on sets for the opening two-parter. The same with Series 4... all of Julian Bleach's stuff as Davros was filmed on sets. If they've done similar again it'd be very easy to keep it a secret. This all reminds me of when loads of people were convinced that Jenna Coleman wasn't going to be in Mummy on the Orient Express for more than about 30 seconds because we'd had no indication apart from one blurry picture of her that she was involved. They've gotten good at keeping things a secret when they want to.

And this isn't me trying to convince myself of a Davros story for Series 9, it's just looking at it how it is. There's no hard evidence that points at these stories being true, nor is there any damning proof they're not - they've just been picked up by the tabloids (including one that has a fairly recent, if occasionally inaccurate track record) and a few spoilerhounds so it adds a bit of credence to discussing the rumours.

I was talking about this the other day actually. I would be happy to see Moffat write a Davros story. Imagine the dialogue! It would be electric. Hopefully it's not just weirdos creating rumour for no reason and there is actually some truth to it. It's been long enough I think.

this does seem quite plausible though to be fair.
him briefly being in the first episode could set up the story arc for the series leading to a Davros finale.

personally, i would love to see Davros return again. i have to be honest in saying the Dalek stories in 'new-who' have been woeful to say the least! i did quite like 'asylum' though.
so i would like a Davros return but only if it will be a decent couple of episodes !!

I don't know why people seem to think that Missy and Davros can't share the same episode together, or why it has to mean that Davros showing up at the start will be a brief reintroduction so we'll be ready for a bigger role in the finale (although that could very well be the case of course). Some argue that it's overkill, but thinking logically the concept of overkill has never been a stranger to Doctor Who anyway.

I loved seeing the Daleks and Cybermen in the same story at the end of Series 2. I was quite young at the time that aired, had never seen the Classic series, and yet I knew it was something special. The actual exchange between the two was a letdown, but the whole idea of both Daleks and Cybermen in the same story...awesome!
The whole idea of Rose, Martha and Donna in the same story at the end of Series 4...amazing! Chucking in Captain Jack and Sarah Jane was the icing on the cake! Younger viewers love it, and they'd love to see Missy show up, with UNIT, and Kate Stewart, and then...BOOM...there's Davros as well! Icing on the cake. With 90 minutes to the story there's plenty of time and scope for a decent story that will, as Moffat put it, bring Missy back in a way that you'd least expect.
It'd also mean Missy isn't the main threat...which I'd prefer, given we only just had her at the end of Series 8. "All of time and space" we were told at the end of Last Christmas, I want more than more of the same.

Looks very much like a photoshop job (the biggest giveaway being Capaldi's hand lit entirely wrong) comprised of an image of Capaldi laid over an image of the Dalek collection at the Doctor Who Experience.

Clearly a fake. Bad photoshop job all round. And PC's hair's all wrong - it's much bigger next series!

I am sure I remember RTD saying he had written a flashback scene for The Stolen Earth/Journeys End which showed Davros as a young man and the explosion that left him crippled and deformed. It was cut for timing. But (if true) it sounds like this could be an interesting exploration of that.

Missy being responsible for saving Davros' life would be a very interesting twist. And a rather sickly development if it meant a Universe without Daleks that the Doctor then had to reverse because of reasons!

And I remember that Davros idea for Series 4, yes. I think it'd work a lot better now... and is an ideal way to feature Davros without turning it into a Dalek-heavy story
