(number in brackets denotes how many perfcet frame scores you correctly predicted – in the event of tied points the most correct frame score picks takes precedence)
So leading the way upon the completion of the first round matches is
DDRickyDD with a phenomenal score of 89 comprising 14/16, five maxes and the bonus. When you consider the leading score at this stage last year was 73, that’s some going.
There was also a quite extraordinary performance by
Jim McIntosh in more ways than one. Uniquely, he correctly predicted the results of
all sixteen matches – yet not one of them by the correct frame score! Hat’s off nonetheless Sir
One of the keys to getting a good score is to get the perfect frame score in a match classed as a double-points ‘shocker’, i.e where the non-seed won. Accordingly, the Walden 8-10 Dott result offered up some serious potential for this and
Party Animal, Ned, Stunty, Ricky, Eugenespeed, Jake & Barracute duly took advantage to bag 16 points. Nobody got the frame score correct in the other two shockers, not surprisingly given Stevens 10-2 thrashing of Williams, but a little more so in McGill beating Maguire in a decider.
The number of seeds to fall was
three (the lowest number since 2009 incidentally), so the five point bonus was picked up by
Darren Lethem, Stunty, tso, TruffleShuffle, Xavier, Ricky, dtcdtcdtc, Tony P, Clarky, Jim Mc, Charlie, Cissy & Taurus.
Please check your scores and PM me if you find an error. Thanks!
