Ellen Thomas
Is Ellen Thomas a good enough Actress to take on a lead role in EE? Thomas seems to be bigging up her role as Claudette.

She's was in EastEnders a few years back. She was also in EastEnders a couple weeks ago. You can't have missed her?

Ellen is a pretty capable actress. She was enjoyable as Liz on the comedy Teachers as well as Adoha on Rev.
If she turns out to be Vincent's mother, it could certainly give her a pretty prominent role on the show. It links her to the Foxes (Pearl's grandma, Kim's mother-in-law) and indirectly Ronnie on account of her mysterious connections with him. She'll probably move onto the Square soon enough. |

I don't think acting ability is even the most important factor. It's how they use her and the storylines she is given. Barbara Windsor isn't the best actress in the world.

In 2011 Cora Cross was billed as the next matriarch of the Square, sadly it never happened.

I think she's a brilliant actress.
I wished grace had been a regular and used a lot more though. |

I thought it was bad when Danny Dyer compared Mick to Frank and Kellie Bright compared Linda to Angie. Now we have Claudette being compared to Peggy? Why can't new characters build up their own identity rather than attempting to imitate old, iconic characters? I think it is one of the reasons why I love Shirley - she is one of those characters who is one of a kind, I don't recall any other characters as complex as her! Actually I still remember Danny Dyer crediting the whole shows turn around with Mick and Linda. - that was a shocker!

Is Claudette a Coker?, a Hubbard? Or a Yates?

I liked her in her role as Grace
But going by what little we have seen Claudette, Ellen Thomas has made Claudette her own. Her hair, her clothes and accent mainly. Made me forget she even played Grace. I have a good feeling about Claudette and I am sure Ellen Thomas will shine. We need to see much more before doubting the actress. Then again, NuMartin said two words and he was labelled all sort of harsh words on here. |
