23 in soap... I thought there would be more personally.

Any actors in soap part of LGBT grouping?

Why should there be more? I think that's a reasonable amount tbh.

I have just one the British soaps minus Doctors. Feel free to do Home and Away, Neighbours, Red Rock and the other one which I can't spell.

5 main - Coronation Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors

River City (BBC Scotland) and Pobol y Cwm (S4C Welsh language) have fewer viewers.

You could count Holby City and Casualty in the continuous drama category rather than what you could term soap operas.

The sooner that show gets new showrunners and producers, the better.

Last male one was Christopher Ross and he was just a guest role. Charlie and Joey, short-lived girl couple.

The Bill, Shameless and Waterloo road before they were axed?

The Bill maybe. I never counted Waterloo Road as a soap despite Digital Spy having spoilers on that section. Shameless fits in comedy/drama. If you go back a few years to Brookside and Crossroads.

Waterloo Road was going to be turned into a Casualty/Holby City style of show before it was axed.

Don't forget Eldorado, Night and Day and Family Affairs!

Aussie TV is more conservative but Neighbours has been better with Chris Pappas the first mainstream gay character.

Conservative? No not anymore really. It's more a H&A thing. Plenty of sex, violence, gay characters too, like on House Husbands, A Place To Call Home etc.

That was just a current list.

There will be a transgender actor in Eastenders soon and Hayley Cropper and Blessing Chambers were our more recent exits.

Dylan Jenkins will be in a cross dressing story which may lead to other LGBT issues led plots.

Is Laura still in FC? I stopped watching shortly after the Paddy Bishop story finished up.

Nate in Neighbours is a bit of a wet blanket so the show needs a new gay male character.

What is this thread about exactly? LGBT character representation in soaps or LGBT representation in the cast or both

I believe she is bisexual. She's been with men and women. But her longest relationship has been with a woman.

Good idea for a thread OP
