Definitely agree. The Dingles do love to throw their weight around!

I like the actress and think she is capable.
The character is cold and manipulative, she doesn't work for me. Even the way she talks to her boys, there's always an agenda with her.

I'm with Jaded on this one. I don't 'like' Emma but I find the character interesting. I like the actress and the character has good connections and family in the village giving her plenty of scope for story lines. I'm not sure if I can say I even like the 'character' yet but I'm happy for her to stay longer. I'd much rather they got rid of some deadwood characters (Sharma's, Spencer's, Kirin, Sam, Marlon..) and focused on the likes of fresh new characters like Emma.

Agree 100%. It really is "Do as I say, not as I do" with this lot, isn't it? And Chas had a full-blown affair with her niece's boyfriend! You'd forget that these days judging by how pally they are with one another. I think Emma is an interesting and complex character, and I look forward to see what else is in store for her, and what she does next.

My thoughts exactly. One track mind (get James back) and one track record - childish stunts and remarks. Why does she even want James?! It's tedious. Didn't she leave him for dead the other week too?

I thought she'd be more clever & calculated; more devious and worm her way in with more villagers but she doesn't... she just sulks around sucking up to her kids and pines after James 90% of the time.

I thought she'd go after Cain - I'd have actually preferred that! Her turning Cain against Moira somehow and bedding him. That reveal would have been far better.

I find her interesting but I wouldn't say she was complex.

Her only motivation is winning James back with no reason as to why and it's turned her into some weird stalker, I was rooting for her when she first arrived and then when she dropped the pallet on James' head but now I think she's just a bit thick.

See I dont agree Tracey Barlow in coronation street is cold and manipulative who has no shame, fear or motive for her behaviour. I can see fear and anxiousness in Emma's actions. Around her sons she's a bit nervous and desperate to be liked and needed.

Her motivation is to win her whole family and turn the clock back.

As much as I knew I wouldn't like her when she came in, I think the storyliners and writing time have pitched all wrong. It would have be interesting for her to have came back and have 'forgiven' Moira and James. Playing happy families with them and stuff all the while, still switching the signs at the garage, phoning about Aaron for something or other and going under the radar, she could have a been a bit of virus, causing trouble but going unnoticed. However, if all the key players are seeing her right now for what she is then I'm struggling to see how long she's going to be able to keep it up without being exiled again? All it would take is a conversation with Val which could slowly drip down to James and he would call her out for being a liar, again. Surely the boys would be nearer the final straw with her after that? For however how much they protest, I bet they would choose James over Emma.

Maybe the writers and storyliners are actually more intelligent that I have given them credit for but for me this story seems like it's nearly done or we've had scenes way to early.

You're right - bad choice of words on my part. I suppose I mean she's unpredictable, you never know what she's going to do next, like when she switched the scrap sign from one car to the other to sabotage Aaron and Adam's new business, or what she's going to do next in her quest to win James back. It will be interesting to see what happens!

think shes a great addition to the cast. Unpredicatable slightly unbalanced.........

Hmm wasnt Chas sleeping with her own neices fiance? the hypocricy in soap land is just gob smacking but as predicted Chas and Debbie are best of friends again ......as if

James & Emma did wrong no doubt about it, but no worse than what Chas has done in the past. No worse than half of them have all done because thats the only storylines scriptwriters can come up with now adays is tedius predictable affairs....... Chas will be with Donny next- hes young and more than likely available.

ive given up with most of the soaps now....... Roxy and Charlie in EE is the worst storyline ever, totally ruining two great characters.

I like Emma, but I find her desperation for James beyond pathetic and unbelievable. I just don't buy her being obsessed with James after not seeing him for two decades, it's unrealistic.
I can't imagine anyone being so hung up with their ex after not seeing them for 20 odd years, especially when said ex cheated on them, took their kids away from them, and then more than moved on themselves. The only reason I could accept Emma's obsession is if she was trying to destroy James for everything he'd done to her.

Surely if that was her motivation then she wouldn't have waited 20 years for them to find her.

Perhaps Emma has to hit rock bottom which will be her new lies being found out before she becomes more human? I don't know, I have to agree with what you have said it feels like the story is nearly done.

I LOVE her crazy ass. You can tell that she is going to go insane after James start rejecting her more.

I'm sure that she is going to be the cause of the big summer storyline that they are planning.

Me too Emma rocks

I just hope she manages to do immense damage before she is no doubt carted off to a sanatorium in Hotton

And stone mad!
Hateful creature. If she left James why is she so insanely jealous of Chas?
Did she leave him or did he throw her out for trying to murder Ross?
Sally Spode all over again, just the characters involved have been changed. More deja vu.

Great post.

I don't mind Emma, especially when she stands up to the likes of Chas and Debbie. I suspect that she will be gone by the end of the year though.

I really liked Emma to start with but now it just feels like 'same old same old'. If she has a story line which doesn't involve her trying to get James back I might like her again.

Great actress, but I find Emma's obsession with James slightly unbelievable.....that said, if it turns out that she split him up with Chas, bagged him for herself, turned everyone against him and then dumped his ass to leave him ruined as an act of revenge, I would be utterly delighted.

I can't bear James Barton, I'd love to see him in the gutter.

I do find it odd to, I hope it does turn out that way. One thing that bugs me is that she left him to die only a few months back, why would you do that if you really loved the person??

I think so. Look at people who abuse and even murder those they claim to love. I reckon she was incredibly angry but then he gave her a chink of hope and she persuaded herself that she could get her family back and became obsessed with it.

KO has unearthed the Sally Spode scripts.
