Interesting anecdote I saw earlier on Twitter. https://twitter.com/election_data/st...69336756989952

Just wait until the stuff about McDonnell and the IRA starts cutting through and watch those poll numbers tumble.

Ah, so those are the excuses now.

Doesn't really matter who is in the shadow cabinet. This current bunch will never be in Government.

Pointing out a fact doesn't make it an excuse.

Corbyn, like all politicians, could do better. But that doesn't alter the fact that the media are out to destroy him at all costs because he is left wing.

The media attacked Ed Miliband because they deemed him a leftie: they called him red Ed and accused his father of hating Britain (despite him fighting for Britain in WW2).

Corbyn is more left wing than Miliband, and the media's attacks are therefore worse.

Oh, I see! So we do in fact love Corbyn, but we're blinded by the media bias.

But, leaving aside the recent polls from YouGov (14 and 16 points) and Ipsos (18 points), maybe saying this does (depending upon your viewpoint):

When Corbyn was re-elected to Labour leader some of his cabinet refused to serve under him. It's not just media bias.

At all costs? I don't think he's that important. After all, the last thing the media you're referring to would want is a viable alternative to the Tories. With Corbyn in charge there isn't a problem. Rather than destroying him, it's more like laughing as you cruelly poke a toothless old dog with a stick.

The voters just don't understand how massive Jeremy's mandate is.

In time they will come to understand and respect it.

His mandate stretches as far as party members and no further until he wins a general election.

Oh. So not when he was "re-elected" as leader, then?

My bad.

36% wavering is quite a high figure. Not really a ringing endorsement for either.

I see that the polls continue to deny the fact that UKIP have fulfilled their purpose, more or less.

The majority of UKIP voters are giving the Tories the benefit of the doubt regarding Brexit.

It will be interesting to see how todays events effect the polls.

A part of this was the elites having too much power and I think this is what will be seen by todays events. I think there will possibly be a swing from Labour to UKIP in the next set.

Just heard the BBC say spring 2020, possibly a GE fought on it...... Would expect the dunderheads in Westminster to delay things as much as possible, I would hope for collapse of the EU with the UK offering no help.

Latest Opinium poll

Con 40%
Lab 32%
UKIP 13%
Lib Dem 6%
SNP 6%
Green 4%

http://opinium.co.uk/wp-content/uplo...016-Tables.xls

They don't poll very often so comparisons from July aren't helpful. Not sure that LibDems and SNP are both the same..

Corbyn's clearly closing the gap now the PLP are no longer conspiring to undermine him and May's honeymoon is over
