Roxy Mitchell- An Ever Decreasing Circle!
Roxy has been on the show for nearly eight years and in that time her whole existence has revolved around one thing - MEN.
Every EP has done the same thing and her character has never developed. Why is this? Is it because she will always play second fiddle to Ronnie? Is it because Rita Simons doesn't have the talent of Sam Womack to carry off any other storyline? The character is going around in Ever Decreasing Circles! If they can't do anything else with her then axe her or Rita should leave. |

It's not the question that Rita can't act - it's the constant going around and around in circles that's the problem.

It's weird the way EE is happy to pay huge wages for years on end to such an awful one dimensional character who offers nothing but looking pretty I suppose and yet can't seem to wait to get rid of interesting character who could have some depth and have great possibilities like Aleks. It's such a boring show and yet with so much potential

They've tried things with Roxy's character but nothing has worked to make her less vacant, selfish and needy. They tried to make her rich, to make her poor, to make her a party girl, to make her sensible, to threaten to remove her child, to giving her good relationships, bad relationships, friendships etc - nothing ever sticks because ultimately, all Rixy will ever care about, is Roxy.
Until she's forced to face the consequences for her actions she's never going to improve as a character - she messes up, plays the poor me card and someone falls over themselves to sort it for her. They should probably just make her be friends with Shirley & Dean - that's their MO as well. |

Part of Roxy's characterization does revolve around men, there will always be a man around. There are people like this in real life so I think Roxy does actually represent a reaslitic figure.

Roxy is Robin To Ronnie';s Batman. The Watson to Ronnie's Holmes. She is the secondary character no matter how they try - and they had 2 years without Sam on the show to try and they failed. The fact is Rita is limited. She's good and what she does but all her big storylines have been failures. Even now - she has more screen time than Ronnie the storyline is falling flat on its face. If we saw more from Ronnie's POV it may have been better.

Good thing Cora is leaving. Now we can get some more well deserved screen time for Roxy.
