When the show was actually serious and the talent was good

I thought the year after was even better.

That was the last great year with SuBo, Stavros Flatley, Hollie Steel, Shaheen, Flawless, Aiden Davis and co. Back then it was controversial that Julian Smith the sax player had toured with top artists and had an album out. Now we think nothing of it!

Yes. And I'm glad the show has moved on from Piers Morgan of all people as a judge...

Still my favourite ever series. I loved that final and like most people I believed it was Subo's to lose but, still voted for Diversity because they were so different from anything I'd seen before. Flawless were fab-u-lous and I thought the vote would split between both dance troupes and Subo would walk right though and steal the crown.

I really wanted Diversity to win but I thought Susan Boyle would do it, so I was glad when Ant & Dec announced them as the winners. Susan Boyle was just over-hyped and nowhere near as good as literally everybody on TV tried to make out. I think people just got fed up of the hype in the end and voted for Diversity out of spite.

Obviously this is the series that BGT will best be remembered for. The week of the live shows was actually genuinely exciting. It felt as though everyone was watching and it was proper event TV. It's just not like that anymore. None of the talent/reality shows are.

To be honest I think these type of shows were at their peak in 2009 & 2010. Those were the years of very high viewing figures. BGT had two of its best winners in Diversity and Spelbound.

It's just a shame it all collapsed to the floor in 2011 - the year reality TV started to lose the plot.

I think Simon took his eye completely off the ball in 2011 by his focus on The X Factor USA. The 2012 series had a good winner and a decent final but quite a few duds in the semis. I thought 2013 has a strong mix of acts but the semi finals lacked balance with some really strong and some quite weak. 2014 wasn't so good.

You can always tell when a series has been successful because the winners are remembered long after the show has finished.

I easily remember Paul Potts from the first series. Maybe because it was the first of its kind so there was nothing to compare it to. As I mentioned Diversity and Spelbound were incredible acts that people still remember, and they continue to do outstanding performances.

The only other winner I thought was brilliant was Attraction in 2013.

I even forgot who won it last it and when I Wiki'd it and saw Collabro my thought was "oh yeah...them". Then again Collabro weren't my favourite act last year so it's no wonder I'd forgotten them. They were good singers no doubt but their act was very been there, done that, bought the t-shirt.

You forgot Collabro?

They've already had a NO1 single and two NO1 albums!

It really wasn't. It was different and unique to other boyband acts, considering most are pop bands as opposed to classical/musical.
