Soap storylines that have never been done before?

I was just wondering, is there anything that soaps haven't done before collectively? This doesn't just have to be storylines, merely plot devices or character traits. What have we yet to see a soap tackle?

Do soaps have an expiration date? When will the day come that every issue has been covered and nothing really feels "original" anymore?

Has the story on Neighbours been done before? Nasty Dr. Nick lied that Paul has cancer so Paul will be dependent on him and fund his cancer research centre. Paul is getting genuinely sick now because of the chemo. it's twisted but quite good.

Wasn't that what the Tracy & Roy storyline was about?

They did this on Emmerdale where Sally drugged Ashley and slept with him.

It was forgotten about after about 3 weeks

I think that is an interesting story to tell. It's been done many times on US soaps, but is always played as the woman drugging a guy to have sex with, and then writing it off as just a scheme; but if you switch the genders, the male character would be accused of rape. Did Ashley recognise it as being rape?

No, because storylines will be different depending on which characters they happen to. Especially if it's something mundane which affects us all in different ways.

No. Tracey pretended they'd had consensual sex, nothing at all actually happened between them. Tracey got Roy drunk or drugged him, can't remember which, and just got into bed next to him.

Islamic extremism - sadly a massive issue in the UK today.

I only watch Eastenders and so I am absolutely certain the BBC will never have the guts to create such a storyline.

Yes, Ashley knew that it was rape. He went to the police a few days afterwards, after he told Laurel. The thing I didn't like was Laurel kind of initially reacted like he had cheated/asking how he could let it happen. It wasn't very comfortable viewing. I thought John played Ashley really well as you could tell the shame and disgust he felt when he was telling Laurel.

However, after a few episodes (I can't remember how many, but it wasn't a long time) the police caught Sally, as she'd done loads of other stuff as well to their family, it was never spoken about again.

Domestic violence involving a pregnant woman as the victim. Has that been done before?

Infertility with IVF or other treatment following it rather than miracle pregnancies and/or someone else turning sperm donor via a one night stand.
