There's lots of medical conditions people could have.
Conjoined twins
Munchausan's syndrome
An adult with downs syndrome
Breastfeeding older children

I agree that EE would never be brave enough to tackle a jihadist extremist storyline. I do think that Kush would be the perfect character to be revealed as one-it would be a great twist because he's been so charming thus far. And I could easily see Nancy converting and finding herself caught up in a jihadist group.

People having to do washing at home on eastenders, the mention of periods (they did have the word Jamrags written on a dingle chalk board at home) people actually signing on and doing a job search, being made homless and going to the council and getting housed in a B & B, going round a supermarket instead of the corner shop, a baby being found abondaned and having to guess who the mother is and finally real mental illness and the effect on the person and whole family .

Real mental illness has been done by Emmerdale on more than one occasion. Zac Dingle a few years ago and Belle Dingle which is still ongoing up to a point. The effect on the person and the whole family is/was very pronounced. There may have been others but fhese are the ones that immdiately spring to mind.

I don't think canbalism would be appropriate for a soap. Plus imagine the complaints.

The Jihadi one would be interesting, but with UKIP and the likes sniffing for votes, it would have to tread thin ground.

A serious one female on female rape.

A fun one here, a character tries out for a reality TV show.

Or even Munchausan's syndrome by proxy. If research and written well, such a storyline would be fascinating.

Now that would really be something new and different!

And what about a wedding which proceeds normally without ending in a shouting match or punch-up or a no-show by bride or groom?

It was done in Ros na Run a fair few years back with Catriona's sister, Jo. Family Affairs also covered it with Kazia Pelka's character, Chrissie.

Ian Beale's 'tramp' phase in EE, Steve McD's depression in CS, Joe Wicks in EE, Stacey and her mother EE (bi-polar).

I said the same ages ago. I would genuinely love to see CS's Jason and Eva get married and experience the same kind of issues most young couples do these days, struggle to save money for a mortgage, struggle with their finances, struggle with work, struggle to conceive a child, difficult pregnancy/birth, post natal depression, faced with repossession of their home....ANYTHING except cheating, keeping secrets and breaking up every 5 minutes!

To be fair though, a woman raping a male would be an interesting storyline.

But the worst obsession I have seen on here was the continuous begging of Jay being raped in EE.

Some kind of rape always comes up on threads like this and it's actually disturbing how many people actually want to sit and watch a rape SL!! What's wrong with you people? Your all obsessed with rape!

Before, it always used to be 'male on male rape' but now it's 'female on male rape' people want to see! What next, 'female on female rape'!

Least nothing's come up with 'Jay being the perfect character bla bla bla...'

Anyway, how about a fame SL. Where a character finds fame. I know there's been SL's like it in HO and CS and touched upon in Brookside but maybe a actual SL where press are all over them fans are always stopping them and let's see the struggle this character goes through and realises they just want their normal life back.

Imagine longing for a rape storyline in any other programme you watch. I bet it seems daft.

Corrie did it back in 1964 with Walter Potts when he hit the big time as a singer. Fans camped outside No.11 and kissed Elsie's door. It was a different era though and the rise of the internet and social media would make this totally different if done today.

Yes, I think your last paragraph (sorry, wanted to bold it but my iPad's being an idiot and not letting me) is a good idea and would be really interesting to watch given the right character.

I haven't watched EE for years so I didn't know about them. I am aware of the Steve McD storyline from reading about it on here recently. The only soap I really watch is ED hence only mentioning ED ones.

But it's all proof that it has been done in soaps

A actual character believing they are seeing ghost and trying to prove ghosts exists. Some people actually believe it and try to prove it but I doubr ee especially would do this until evidence of the supernatural is proven but it would be interesting to see a character strongly believing in ghosts. It's a topic that's fancinated me (and yes I do believ in ghosts)
