If Cora is her Mother then why she is possibly leaving? I think Babe could be her Mum.
I think Babe is her mum, and her dad is some random one-night-stand (it wouldn't be Stan - he despised Babe), which means that she isn't actually a Carter at all.

From what I can remember she never went to Pakistan till later and hide her pregnancy and had her in the UK then abandoned her on her uncle's doorstep, which is presumably in London.
