EastEnders - Do you like the Carter's in the Vic or would you prefer someone else?
I think the Carter's are okay in the Vic but I much preferred the Mitchell's in the Vic. However, if the Carter's were to leave the Vic I don't really know where they'd fit in the Square. I'd love to see the Mitchell's back in the Vic with Sharon and Phil as landlady and landlord. It would feel more like old school EastEnders for me and could make for some good drama between the Mitchell's, Shirley and the rest of the Square. It could also make for exciting potential Peggy, Sam, Grant returns. Either that or have Janine make a shock return as a secret buyer. What are your views?

Their boring and taken over the show. I don't care who takes over as long as they reduce the screen time of these oxygen thieves who are ruining eastenders

Much prefer them to the Mitchells, but they need to ease up on the drama for them and get them back to just running the pub.

I want Mick Carter living on the streets. He's not acting even nearly good enough for what he gets paid. Linda should live on the Mitchell's sofa. Nancy should get her own place with Lee. The Vic should be run by Shirley and Buster and maybe Tina.

Phil has never been the landlord of the Vic so I'm not sure how making him so would create a sense of 'old school' EastEnders. He's an alcoholic, it's probably not wise for him to be serving drinks all day.
It would just be Sharon on her own and that didn't work in 2001. They had to move Peggy back in to make things more interesting. Sharon only works behind the bar (and in general) when she's surrounded by stronger characters eg. Grant, Peggy. Phil is a strong character but not landlord material. The Mitchells wouldn't really work in the Vic now. It was always Grant and Peggy's domain. I like Peggy but I can't see BW returning full time. She left because the workload was getting too much for her. And Ross Kemp is just paying lip service to the show. I don't think he intends to return any time soon. The Mitchells who would still work in the Vic are R&R but their lives have moved on now. |

Linda suits the pub but the rest hit or miss. Cannot stand mick but a big problem Is the carters are too involved
I'm their own stories to bother properly with the pub. It's Like lee and Tracey Constantly works it while they go about their stories as lee appears abit less Often. |

I like the Carters in the Vic. Mick and Linda especially are well suited behind the bar.

Phil owned the Vic during Kat and Alfie's tenure. They just worked there.

They hardly gave Sharon a chance on her own in 2001 because Phil was there after five minutes of hee arrical, followed by Peggy, only for her to leave soon after. What the point of that was, I don't know!

Yes he has owned it but we haven't seen him run the bar for any sustained length of time.

If the Carters leave then Sharon. The Albert barely get a look in these days.

I don't mind whether Mick/Linda run the bar or not - the Carters I like rarely feature in the bar anyore ie. Tina, Shirley, Babe, Buster....however I wouldn't want to see Sharon and Phil running it.

It will happen one day.. I think Sharon will be back but not for a while. Hope Janine is the next landlady.
How about a hologram Pat and Frank? ![]() I did like the Vic when Peggy ran it and Ronnie, Roxy and Shirley were barmaids. |

I can't see Janine in the Vic, she is too unpopular.

The Carters were great up until the rape storyline, DTC is just to blind to see that the viewers liked the simplicity of the Carters, he tried to squeeze to many stories into one. I believe they will return to their former glory. I'd HATE the Mitchells to have the pub, they have the Albert and DTC cant seem to fit many stories in around that

Phil and Sharon would be more interesting than the current occupants; but let's face it, watching paint dry would be more interesting. However, I fear that putting Sharon and Phil back there would feel like going over old ground. They have also struggled to get Sharon's characterisation right this stint, so putting her back in the Vic could end up being a mistake.
To be honest. I don't know what would work best. They tried recapturing the old Kat and Alfie magic and that was a total failure. The Carters started off really well but have now totally burned out. Back to the Mitchells again? Doesn't exactly fill me with excitement. |

Bit of an unusual one but I wouldn't mind seeing the Foxes in there - Denise, Patrick and Kim living there and Shirley working there with them (because she is essentially part of the Fox family - and I really like that).
It would never happen but I'd like that. Chrissie was another one who was good in the Vic, with Jake. |

He doesn't have to run the bar. He can hire barmaids and barmen. Most landlords don't work the house that often.
Maybe it's because he has never done it as a proper job before, but I don't think Phil would suit being behind the bar. And Sharon's characterisation is too inconsistent - it would be a huge gamble putting her in there. Personally, I think Mick & Linda are fine. They're suffering from storyline pile-up at the present time but that doesn't mean they have failed as a characters. They have been hugely successful in the Vic before and can be again with the right writing. |

Cora would have been perfect - Yes she would have drunk lots of the profits but she is real East End.

I think in this day and age a landlady of the Vic should be a strong, steely no-nonense kind of woman. I just can't buy Linda, the flouncy camp marshmallow maiden. |
