How convenient that both Bianca (who left fairly poor with Terry to start a new life) and Robbie are on holiday when the funeral is on, and I can't even remember the excuses made for Jack, April and Susie but I remember that they were really hollow and bad. Jack in particular was the favourite of Jim, why would he not come back (actor aside).

I guess it has to be put in perspective - if the actors aren't available, they aren't available - not alot they can do about it.

The photos from the funeral are about and not one single person returned.

At least two of his kids will be there and his granddaughters.

I would've liked all of Jim's living kids to be there but Jack is the only one whose absence poses an issue. April had a bad relationship with him and it's unlikely the family would know where to start in tracking down Suzy.

Even though Jack's absence isn't realistic, he wasn't on screen much with Jim and all we would have is Scott Maslen's woeful attempts at acting. It's a lot more interesting seeing how Carol and Max (played by two of the show's stronger actors) are taking the news. They spent the most time on screen with Jim and - due to past issues - their reactions are a lot more complex than straight-forward grief.

He never even came back for his brother Billie's funeral either.

I have found it rather poor on Jim's death. There wasn't even an announcement about it to the outside characters. I wanted to see other people's reactions. We never saw Patrick told his death. He just toasted a drink to him and stan and asked for them both to save him a seat.

We did see Patrick being told. Carol told him.

With things like this I wish they would just pretend they turned up for the funeral but remained "off camera". Otherwise it just ruins characters like Michelle Fowler etc beyond repair.

Michelle has an aversion to lillies. When she dies she's going to miss her own funeral.

Dean Gaffney would have jumped at the chance to come so it's disappointing he's not making a brief reappearance. I'm sure he'd have liked to have been there if only out of respect for John Bardon.

Obviously it's understandable that Patsy Palmer isn't returning and it's okay to make the excuse for her but poor form to basically give Robbie's absence practically the same reason. Scott Maslen is being a snob these days (which is odd considering his closeness to Samantha Womack) but really Jack should be there.

It would have been nice for April to reappear. Would give another dynamic as I can see April ultimately forgiving Jim and returning to pay her respects regardless of the issues the pair shared which would give Max and Carol food for thought.

The excuses were

"Jack isn't coming, Bianca's on holiday with the kids and can't get an earlier flight, it's the same with Robbie"

Suzy and April weren't mentioned which is weird.

They've disappeared into the vortex outside Walford. Once you leave, you cannot return .

Well, not for a few years at least before the cash starts drying up .
