If they decide to go down a dark route for her exit storyline how dark could /should they go ?. Clara lost Danny last year which was sad but so far Clara herself has escaped any permanent physical or psychological damage.

If the doctor finally says or does something to destroy their friendship that's one thing.
Sustaining a life changing injury is another. Could be terribly burnt and scared she does have such a pretty face after all. Paralysis is another stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Companion who can't run from a threat is not safe.

Clara could even have a similar tragedy to Amy. Undergoing a emergency hysterectomy before she even has a chance to experience a pregnancy and birth.
She mentioned wanting children so not impossible she could walk away because every time she looks at the doctor she is reminded of her loss.

Would prefer a happy ending but could prepare for more heartbreak for the Doctor and Clara if her time and luck finally does run out.

Hoping for another sad ending but one which allows Clara to return. Maybe they could do a real life problem such as cancer?

Next Time...

'Clara sustains life changing injuries in a car accident that result in her requiring round the clock Nursing care, misplaces her womb, is set on fire and receives word from the Doctor that all that sunbed use wasn't so wise after all...All on the next episode of DOCTOR WHO'

Jesus christ...

Clara already betrayed 12 once, I doubt she will again...and also threatened to leave multiple times in series 8. So many ways for Clara to leave were bypassed for Jenna to stay on.

When she eventually goes I wouldn't mind if it was somehow linked back into the Clara/Dalek version maybe a mistake of the Doctors caused it to happen or something.

I don't know how that would fit in with any of the Impossible Girl stuff but hey that's not my problem

I hope she bucks the trend (bar Martha) and chooses to stay on Earth after all her adventures, rather than being forcedly seperated like most other companions have been since 2005.

I hope it's another sad exit like a sci-fi Les Miserables.

I hope it's a low-key or happy ending.

I hope it's as high-key and sad as possible. I want to be depressed by a companion exit.

I hope it's low-key and they part on a happy note, buck the tedious trend of sad endings all the damn time.

I'd like something as depressing as this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86lczf7Bou8

or this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dFIz5ZG4DQ

I believe there are countless new ways of doing sad exits.

Good for you.

I'd like something different.

How? she ditched the "leave for a normal life" out in series 8

Maybe she finds that old 101 Places To See book (yeah, that, which was with Clara for her first two episodes and then was never seen again/went nowhere) and decides to settle on Earth, to go travelling on Earth herself, sans TARDIS. (And most likely with her having the Doctor promise that every once in a while he'll pop back and visit for a random adventure.) There are many ways she could leave in a 'happy' way (just me who's bored of sad departures all the time? And not every companion has to die/be lost/be trapped/etc. to leave!)

She had several chances to stay on earth and leave him in Series 8...so I doubt they will be going that "Normal life" way again in Series 9. she does not WANT a normal life.

No. No singing please. Have you *heard* Jenna sing? Cannot hold a tune in a bucket.

She called the Doctor and travelling an addiction. She could overcome said addiction in Series 9, or she could see something so horrific that she decides, actually, she wants out of the Doctor's life.

My main point here is that I'm fed up of depressing/sad endings for companions now. It's just boring if they always do it. I wish I'd never posted "decides to stay on Earth" up-thread cos that's not the main point I'm making. But oh well.

The problem is, travelling around the world (as amazing as that would be) would never compare to exploring the universe.

Series 9 episode 13: the Doctor takes Clara to rehab?

Then change the reason for her deciding to stay. Family reasons maybe.

As I've said though, sigh...

Staying on Earth is not my point here. Have people just ignored me saying this? My point is that, whatever ruddy happens, an upbeat departure for her would make for a nice change of pace.

I agree with this. As much as I love Clara, I would be very upset if she just decided to leave the Doctor. I don't think it fits in with her character. I don't want her to die but I'd much rather she died, than willingly walked away from the Doctor. They've been through too much.

I think this is a major part in why most companions have such a sad, final ending because none of them would have willingly left the Doctor and that life. The only way for it to be believable is for them to have no choice, IMO.

I see what you are saying and understand your want for an upbeat, happy ending and although yes, I'd love for Clara to be happy and not die, I don't want her to willingly leave the Doctor. So as much as I love her, I'd rather she was ripped away from the Doctor, even in death, than just leave.

Fair enough

Annoyingly for me, I feel Clara had the perfect ending in Last Christmas - when 12 showed up and she'd grown old. I thought that whole scene was beautiful, unique, clever and also a great mixture of emotions, but hey.

The link doesn't seem to work for me. It tries to load, then about 30 seconds later it comes up with the message, "this page cannot be displayed".

It's so frustrating, as I really want to see what you are on about!

I wonder if the link works okay for other people? If not, then I think there must be something wrong somewhere down the line. Maybe the website is currently down. I'll leave it for now, then try later.

The link to the Doctor Who Musical now works fine for me! I tried loading the page in another window and was successful!
