In a shock twist Shirley is revealed as Eastenders first Transgender character. She used to be Rod Stewart before the op.

Todd got beaten up and hospitalised by a bunch of really scary thugs, (at least one of them was over 12) which resulted in said hideous permanent facial disfigurement.

It's become 'a thing' on DS because like all soap 'horrific injuries', the make-up dept got bored of doing it after a week and now it's a 2mm mark on his cheek.

), are vile creatures, who should take a break and NEVER return, EVER!

Agree with this!! I love Shirley as well, and she can be in as many scenes as she pleases - yes! Shirl is the best Carter by far!

Shirley is the vilest Carter of them all. I liked the Mick, Linda, Nancy, Johnny and Stan unit best. Shirley and Tina didn't need to be linked to them.

I used to like Shirley but she is a nasty piece of work. The way she treated Linda was disgusting and she has no redeeming qualities. I'm sure the actress who plays her is lovely but I can't stand Shirley. It's good she has her fans who defends her all the time.

I think I will warm to her again but right now, she annoys me a lot. I don't think her huge amount of screentime is helping actually. It seems to be the Mick and Shirley show but what about Linda? It is her storyline. Hopefully Friday's cliffhanger will give Linda more airtime.

I laughed when Shirl flashed Alfie and cheered her on when she drowned Ben. I just find all her family stories so boring, interminable and the clunky efforts TPTB are making to try and make me love her insulting to my intelligence when shes been onscreen with a vastly different back story for so long. Fair play to those who love her, I mean you no disrespect or distress.

A midnight embargo has been broken revealing that Shirley Carter is going to release her own album. Digital Spy can exclusively reveal that Shirl's first LP will be released just in time for Christmas.

Executives have been working tirelessly to find the right songs for Shirley and if all goes to plan, they're hoping that she will break America next year. Stars like Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith are eager to collaborate with her.

Shirley was busy in the recording studio and unavailable to comment but a rumoured tracklist has been leaked by Barbara Smith.

Shirley is also tipped to unearth another huge Carter secret during Shirley Week that will have huge ramifications for the entire family. Will she risk tearing her family apart once more? She’s stopped in her tracks when Buster surprises her with a proposal.

In an EastEnders first, Shirley will appear in every single scene aired that week. An EastEnders insider stated that the story team were leaping up and down at the story opportunities and possibilities of including Shirley Carter in every storyline. When asked if the producer had any favourites, they replied, ‘Doesn’t every producer? Dominic created Shirley and holds a special place for her in his heart. She’ll be a leading lady as long as he is producer of the show.’

EastEnders producer, Dominic Treadwell-Collins, stated that it would be tantamount to treason not to use Linda Henry’s talents and Shirley Week would ensure her future iconic status along with being Danny Dyer’s mum. He dismissed rumours that Linda was being overworked. It was also reported that she was upset that Lacey Turner was appearing in most episodes but sometimes only for one scene, ‘Lacey has appeared in nearly as many episodes as me but she hasn’t even got a storyline. I’m appearing in every second scene with all my satellites and am exhausted’ she apparently sniped.

Linda Henry was asked to comment but was busy filming. Shirley Week is due to air this summer with a special Shirley trailer in the works.”
