Star Wars: Rogue One
Quote:
Fans at Star Wars Celebration continue to get new nuggets of information, and today we got a glimpse of Gareth Edwards' Rogue One and the first description of the plot. During a panel, Edwards stated that the film will take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and will be about a group of rebels banding together to steal plans for the Death Star. Those plans are what allowed Luke Skywalker to destroy the battle station in the original film. Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy and Kiri Hart also announced the formal name for the new standalone films: they will be called "anthology films

Sound like the film will end at the start of A New Hope.

I did read that it's just a proof of concept teaser trailer so there will not be an official version until they actually start filming it.So I might have a look at the bootleg version as it seems there won't be an official version!

It doesn't really show much either i was more interested in the December 2016 date at the end does this mean episode VIII will be released in 2017?
Just hope the one between VIII and IX will be the young Han Solo / Boba Fett one that was rumoured rather than the Yoda suggestion. |

Yeah I guess it would make sense if they had these Anthology Star Wars films to fill the gaps between the main Star Wars films
So basically there will be a Star Wars related film each December! |

The Star Wars trilogy will be alternate years with the spin-off films in between. VII this year and VIII in 2017 with IX in 2019.

I just hope one of the Anthology Star Wars films doesn't involve a young Han Solo as that would be a terrible idea just having someone else playing Han Solo as it would be a return to the prequels.Nobody wants that!

That's so weird, I've had the odd "imagining" of Star Wars set in deep jungle ravines, sort of like it was on Avatar. I always liked the bit in Revenge of the Sith when that Jedi gets shot down after the Emperor gives the order to kill them all and his ship bounces off those jungle cliffs. That planet looked awesome.

At least two of the three anthology movies are set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
At the panel where this all came out they talked about potential crossover of storylines, ie Star Wars Rebels - Given what Rogue One is about and when it's set, that one won't clash with Rebels, hence it must be one of the other two that could/does. |

I liked the idea mooted for one of the spin-offs that was going to be a galactic "heist" movie. I wasn't so keen on a comment I read that suggested all kinds of genre might be explored for movies within the Star Wars universe, including comedy.

Comedy - you're not digging the 'Jolly Adventures of Jar Jar Binks' idea? ![]()

I've always said that if you wanted a guaranteed money-spinner, then just call one of the movies "Star Wars Episode x - The One Where Jar Jar Dies Horribly" - I'd patiently queue in line to see that sh*t go down!

Just a s long as Rogue One doesn't turn into a 'clone' of Guardians of the Galaxy!
I'd quite like to see a "lost" Kenobi story - I wonder if Ewan would be up for stand alone Obi Wan movie? |
