So excited - what a great time it is to be a Star Wars fan.

Though 'youngsters' I work with who loved Force Awakens, said this trailer meant nothing to them at all, they didn't 'get' any references.. They think the only Star Wars that matter were Phantom Menace onwards.......*rolls eyes*....does my nut in!

- No suggestion that Kyle Katarn is going to be in it, and therefore a canon character
I thought that the character that Diego Luna is playing looks a bit like Kyle Katarn.

Nah, looks nothing like Kyle Katarn. No beard for a start.

Nope. It's as additional story leading up to episode 4. It tells the story of how the Rebels got the plans to the first Death Star.

Looks very impressive, the retro future 70's Star Wars look has been captured incredibly well. Has a very different feel to Force Awakens, hate to say it, but it's "darker" lol. Certainly not a bad thing of course. Just noticeable.

Weird that Disney have never had a female lead in their endless Marvel movies, yet both Star Wars movies have strong female leads?

Kathleen Kennedy head of Lucasfilm has something to do with that... She's doing a lot of good/right things since taking over...

Trailer looks really good. I just hope that finally we get a good representation of the mysterious Bothans and how they infiltrate the imperial base to get the plans. Would be nice showing how they worked their way along the chain of command to end up with Leia before she hid them in R2

btw is the actress playing Mon Mothma the same one who was in Episode 3?

What's to be confused about?
It's all very straight forward as far as I can see, it's a prequel to episode IV detailing how Leia ended up with the Death Star plans.

The Bothans were involved in getting the plans for Death Star 2 in Return of the Jedi

Wow, watching the footage so far, I'm preferring this to The Farce Awakens.

Hopefully less on 'The Force' & more of what most fans want - action & hardware.

(Though, i would've preferred The Force Awakens alot more if we'd had more Maz Kanata!)

You want less on the force, but more Maz - a force user. Ok.

yep, one of my silly ironies! She appears so under-used in the film, though the deleted scenes will do her more justice. Its less 'force mysticism' i'm after & more 'force action'. That should clear it up...

But... Its also nice to have a movie not reliant on too much Force-related material, what with the master & pupil stuff, and also the 'who's related to who' family stuff too.

Basically, these movies can go off on tangents, whilst still remaining part of the whole and hopefully have more fun along the way with it. I wasn't overly impressed by 'Force', its a 38-42% for me. This movie looks already to be a 68%. I know. So shallow.

Well, the superhero business is still mainly a guys thing.

That said, Marvel does have a Captain Marvel movie on their slate (to come out in 2019):

If done correct, it could mean a lot for the Marvel world. Outside of Black Widow, who is a much more minor character in the comics (more of an ally then a member of any team), there have not been any female heroes in the MCU Universe. Ok, there is Scarlet Witch, but that is probably the least likely female (character) to carry a movie on her own.

Not because it's a new story then? rather than a scene for scene remake.

Is it bad I have no idea who Captain Marvel is?

I guess the question is would comic book fans turn out for a female led superhero movie?

Star Wars movies are more ensemble cast focused so I guess it's less of a problem for them. It just gets patronizing after a while seeing female characters used as love interests or side kicks.

Fingers crossed the movie is good.

Anyways, back to Rogue One, anyone have ideas on who the black cloaked figure was? It didn't seem to be either Darth Vader or the emperor guy, can't imagine it being a new dark jedi either as Darth Vader is the only one left. So, who is it?

^^We don't actually know, he appears to be bowing, and the presence of the Imperial Guard would indicate the emperors there, hidden behind the bowing figure or maybe in the "Bacta" tank (I'm not convinced it is a Bacta tank).

Me neither.

There's a lot of steam, so I think it might be a less 'crude' carbon freeze chamber.

Ben Mendlesohn's character looks to be pretty cool with that flowing cape.
