Booked my tickets today.

After a false start where I managed to book a 3am showing (!), I cancelled and rebooked for 18/12 at 12.45pm. Got one of my favourite aisle seats at BFI IMAX too.

2D...but I actually prefer that, not interested in 3D at all.

Shades of deja vu for The Force Awakens this time last year...I guess if they continue this pattern this may become a regular December thing.

Nah, Darth Vader in 3D is worth it alone. You can't miss this once-in-a-lifetime chance !

Exactly, I was expecting to pay about £20 for the IMAX experience of the film, and it ended up costing me just under at £17.75 for the midnight showing. Cannot wait now.

When I went to watch The Force Awakens at midnight in 3D, I made a really good friend who was like a Star Wars superfan boy.. he was actually screeching like a little girl as the opening scenes aired saying he's waited so many years for this and how it's history etc !! I was sitting next to him and we had a good debate and enjoyed it together. We was total strangers but had so much fun !

Jyn will be just as plummy, mark my words.

I don't really understand the people who are clamouring for this film because it is something "original". I am looking forward to it, but I can't help wonder whether it was a story we actually needed. Sometimes, these things are best left to the imagination. Like the prequels.

What a swizz, the clip on the Disney show was nothing but the previously seen stuff plus a couple of seconds here and there, mainly of what happens after that walker 'head' is shot.

At last, an actual scene from the film - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiiCkWEavI0

And a one hour Q&A session that was live on twitter yesterday - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2VEuSGOCWM

And I thought fan theories were daft...

She seems to seriously think Disney ordered reshoots because Edwards' version was "too good".😂

Well, what I think she is trying to say is not that, but that Disney want their flagship product in the franchise to be the Episodes (7, 8 and 9) and that Rogue One may draw attention away from that if fans' interest in the spin-offs is greater.

Edwards may have not created a movie that was "too good" but that it was (is) possibly the deeper, more intriguing, grittier tone that many fans have been wanting a return to since TESB

Early screenings suggest that Rogue One is very, very good.

The press were only shown 28 minutes of it and early reviews of this sort of film are historically meaningless. (The Dark Knight Rises was being speculated about as a best picture Oscar winner on twitter the week prior to it's release.)

I thought the whole point of the anthology films was to be different from the official "episodes"?

Different but not better presumably.

As for that article, from one angle it might be implying that Episode VIII has problems.

I think they will be. But I got from the article that Disney might want the focus to be on the core Episodes as the backbone of the franchise, and that Rogue One might steer fans' attention away from that.

I really wouldn't pay any heed to that article. It says "it is set in roughly the same universe as episodes one to seven, but features none of the familiar characters". Well who's Darth Vader then? It's also speculated that Tarkin is in it too, and probably Princess Leia.

Looks like a lazy hack shit-stirring as usual.

I hope that Rian Johnson injects some much needed creativity into the movie, because The Force Awakens didn't show a single ounce of any.

I'd have thought the wider, general audience's response to these offshoots would be more an issue for Disney.

Possibly. I think more casual viewers are going to be confused by Rogue One. "Why is Darth Vader in this one? Where is Luke Skywalker?" etc etc

Disney Star Wars is not going to be a hotbed of creativity. It's going to be safe.

That means derivative.

Probably, isn't Rogue One effectively episode 3.5?

There's potential for a pretty big spoiler in that video if you look closely.

Spoiler
at about 20 seconds (when the big white furry legs are walking towards you) look to the right and there's concept art and a model of what appears to be Anakin / Darth Vader without his suit. Possibly the occupant of what is widely believed to be a Bacta tank?

The denizens of boards.theforce.net are going nuts over this revelation.

Surely only uber nerds consider this a big spoiler?

Apparently there will be no opening crawl which I am a little bit gutted about!
