i know samantha womack has filmed mount pleasent for sky.
but shane, seems to be the presenter on shows often that arent eastenders. in the last year he has presented 3 shows, including decimate that starts today. i guess this is why he is off screen loads, as he is doing other stuff for the corporation. years back cast would have been axed if they done this. |

Shane does game shows. They don't require a lot of time off for filming. In fact, you can film more than one episode a day.
Sam Womack did Mount pleasant and a few films, which led to being written out for about 5/6months. Alfie has never been written out for Shane to do these projects and it has never affected his storylines. Shane was briefly written out for a few weeks when his character went to Australia, but it was brief and never affected anything. In fact his brief break led to Kat and Alfie losing everything after his dodgy dealings. Plus Shane might exclusively have a contract with BBC that means he will do shows for them. Some actors are soley committed to one channel while others can work where they want. Shane Ritchie doing other projects and Sam Womack doing other projects can not be compared at all. |

Its part of his contract I would imagine - stay on the show longer and we will allow you to do several game shows until one of them actually becomes a success (cos lets face it they are all terrible so far!)
When Alfie leaves for the spin off this also keeps Shane happy and in work. Sam did some stuff last year that was all pre-booked prior to her full time return so they have had to work around it. She has offered to return to Mount Pleasant but my impression is its for just one episode to write her character off the show (killed off if Dennis Rickman is staying on the show?) When actors are no on EE does not mean they are filming other stuff its just its more noticeable to the audience. Sam has been back since March but has not been used at all. Where are Whitney and Lola? Not seen in weeks either but that doesn't mean they are filming other stuff its just they aren't Carters.. I mean not needed right now. |
