We know DTC is partial to unannounced returns and we haven't been given an explanation for April and Suzy's absences like we have for Robbie and Bianca's. Carol said to Max today that she doesn't know if they'll be coming or not which is setting the scene for a surprise appearance. Just like Anthony Trueman's one episode return last summer I suspect April and Suzy may pop up tomorrow. Or is that just wishful thinking?

Shame i would like to see both back, I never watched at the time but I get April was rather popular with the viewers then suddenly the actress quit. Maggie O'Neill didn't get on with many of the cast, but none those who would be in the episode tomorrow.

Yes April was enormously popular during her short time onscreen in 1996 I cant believe no producer has brought her back. Suzy could also have been great she left too soon after less than 6 months onscreen in 2008.

Suzy was awful, Maggie O'Neill was appalling in the role. I wouldn't want to see her again, April is a different story altogether, I always liked her.

I thought we were going to get a surprise return when Dot got a mystery visitor.

Maggie has barely worked since her Suzy role.

We didn't know the famous Ginger Pete would be making an appearance, so anything can happen. I wouldn't hold out for a Wicksy style credit roll skulk, though.

I would have loved for members of the Branning family to be brought back for Jim's funeral however I don't see it happening which is a bit of a shame.

However he had difficult relationships with a lot of his family so their absence is not too unrealistic unlike Michelle Fowler for example not returning for Pauline's funeral. I believe that was badly handled ; it wasn't even revealed in dialogue the reason she didn't show up.

I'm fuming that Dean Gaffney hasn't been asked back.

He should be allowed back full time!

Honestly I think there probably won't be any surprises today although maybe I'm being pessimistic and not giving DTC all the credit he deserves, he has surprised us before. Let's see how it goes

Not full time, but I'm surprised they didn't for a guest spot considering Robbie and Sonia shared the most screen time with Jim during his prime on the show but then he's had to share his funeral with Stan and we know he trumpets Jim & family

I just found it odd that they failed to explain April and Suzy's absence yet they've come up with excuses for Bianca and Robbie missing the funeral. In yesterday's episode Carol said something to Max about there being enough food if April and Suzy did show up. So there is chance they haven't been ruled out, it would be a brilliant supsrise if they did show up. Jim's death has been very underwhelming otherwise.

Would be nice if they brought at least ONE character for Jim's funeral. I understand the actress who plays Bianca has moved to America now but heck even Robbie could return. Even recasting April or Suzy would work too.

I don't think we're in for any surprise returns myself and don't think it is out of place within the context of Jim's relationships with his kids.
