I wonder how the character will react as this will be one of the most heartbreaking moment of Tracys life. Wonder will her character change after this.

This could break Tracy.

I doubt there will be any significant character development. A few weeks of grief and then back to her unfounded bitterness with everyone on the cobbles.

It's weird - Corrie used to write characters with so much depth and quality that you could sympathise with even the most negative of characters. Wish we could get a more balanced Tracy...

The only time I ever remember Tracy mellowing slightly was when she worked with Simon's mother in the florists. Must have been something in the pollen...

I'm hoping she will be affected and not use it to her advantage

You get the horrible feeling that she will be superficially upset for a while and then will start asking what her Mum left her in her will and will begin flogging Deirdre's jewellery.

I hope I'm wrong

It's a difficult one as, had Anne Kirkbride quit in perfect health, I can imagine this is exactly how Tracy would react, not necessarily because she is a shallow gold digger, but because that's the image she tends to project to cover up whatever insecurities she may have. But it would seem distasteful in the extreme, given the circumstances.

I think Tracey will go off the rails slightly after finding out.

I don't know why but not long after Anne died and people were saying how she would leave the show, I pictured Tracy finding out about Deirdre's death, denying it and going berserk about it before literally crumbling to the floor. I don't know why I thought of that but it seemed like the thing she'd do, get angry and deny it before realising its real and that she'll never see her Mum again and just break down.

I hope it is something like that and that we see she does have some redeeming features and it would be a good opportunity to see the softer side of Tracey but I fear with the present writers, it will be another opportunity to bring out the pantomime baddie in her. We shall see.

It'd be nice to have a Janine style reaction where she suddenly snaps out of bitch mode and just completely breaks down on the spot

It's would break Tracy's heart, I hope not see her in evil grin when she receive her late mother's will.

I think the fact that Anne herself has passed away might mean they go the route of Tracy simply being heartbroken as anything else may come across as a bit disrespectful to Deirdre / Anne's memory.

They've obviously not always seen eye to eye but I have always believed that Tracy loves Dierdre and Ken very much and won't realise how much she's lost till its gone. I think this will devastate her and hopefully bring her closer with the rest of her family, make her more protective but also more ruthless in getting what she wants.

Where is Deidre anyway? It's been so long I've forgotten.

Not necessarily. Jim's death in EastEnders has been met with ambivalence by both of his on-screen children.

i think tracy would be more interested in the will, let's face it. gonna be sad knowing we'll never see Deirdre again though, kinda like when the actress who played blanche died

Perfect opportunity to develop Tracy that shouldn't be wasted. Everyone is bored of the panto villain and whilst I am apprehensive about the quality of Kate Fords acting, I would love to see this be a turning point for the character.

I was saying earlier, there seems to be hardly any characters anymore who you feel genuine sorrow for, or sympathy. They act so spitefully and vengeful to one another that you sometimes think that they deserve everything they get.

I want some drama, and some emotion it's time someone put the heart back into Corrie. I miss it.

I'm not talking about ambivalence. More a cold-hearted "I wonder what she left me" kind of reaction.

I'm considering writing a begging letter to The Hat asking him to use this as an opportunity to really develop Tracy. I genuinely believe that the character is crying out for it!

You are exactly right. And she will be excused because "oh poor Tracy" (despite acting nasty before) and back to acting like a clown and making vile remarks towards others that have had terrible experiences. Doesn't she also

sleep with her ex-husband in the summer,
which is around the time Deirdre supposedly dies.

I suppose she'll inherit all those chain belts.

I don't think Tracy loves anyone but herself.
