Anybody else excited for this? The Friday episode with June Whitfield in particular looks really, really good. Hopefully a classic.

A few questions because I wasn't watching back in 2001.

- Are the Slaters Catholic?
- Is Zoe being born in a convent a retcon, or just not something they mentioned before? Thanks.

I'm definitely looking forward to this, especially the May 1 ep with just Kat, Alfie, Stacey, Whitney, and a couple of nuns and not a single Carter in sight!

To answer your questions:

I don't think the Slaters are catholic and I don't think Zoe was born in a convent but it could be a retcon job!

Aww June Whitfield never seems to age.

I think you can get Protestant convents too. Not sure if this is one though.

Looking forward to these scenes.

Stacey's key must involve Whitney/Ryan.

I vaguely remember Kat mentioning how she was sent away when she fell pregnant with Zoe back in 2001 but I don't think it was ever mentioned where.

Ah, thanks. I didn't think Kat seemed the religious type.

I don't mind little retcons if it improves the story and these episodes look fantastic so I'm cool with that. It's been great sering Jessie get some proper drama again.

Great to see Kat getting more screentime but it looks like she will be leaving soon with Alfie

Just hope Kat and Alfie will get a happy ending.

No. I am sick of Kat now. She doesn't need to be used constantly. DTC is awful for the way he overuses his favourites, yet doesn't bother with the rest.

Kat has been underused.

Zoe being born in a convent is a retcon. It was established in 2001 that she was born in a hospital. It was also referenced in 2005 when Kat told Alfie about when Zoe was born. I think there was also a mention in 2010 between Charlie and Kat when Kat went to the hospital because she thought she was in labour.

Hardly

Kat was barely used until the fire storyline last year. She hasn't been used a lot but she hasn't been overused. She's been used in a content way. DTC should conduct this manner with the carters.

Really looking forward to the scenes in the Convent.

This is the week with someone from Staceys past popping up as well yeah?

We'll get more of those Cora/Dot type scenes where the writing is a bit too clever and doesn't sound like the characters are having a natural conversation. I'll bet a packet of Haribo that we'll get some choir incidental music too.

I have never seen June Whitfield in a serious role, it will be interesting to watch.

I'm looking forward to the Kat and Max scenes - my two favourite characters and two of the best actors finally sharing some substantial screen time together.

Of course Friday's episode. I'm expecting great acting from Jessie Wallace - she never fails to deliver in episodes like these. Watching June Whitfield as the Nun should be interesting too.

I'm pleased DTC realises Kat deserves a good send off, she is an Eastenders legend.

I want June Whitfield's Mother Superior to engage in a brutal toe to toe bare knuckle fight with Dot Corleone.

It would be like the Thrilla in Manilla all over again.

Seems like just merely appearing on screen constitutes being 'overused' for some people on here...

I know it's insane. Clearly soapfan is miffed because her own favourites are underused and is weirdly blaming Kat for that even though she's not even used that much herself.

Kat is a MASSIVE character and is leaving soon, no character deserves screen time more than Kat does right now.

Used to like Kat but I think it's time for her to leave for good. We already have iconic characters like Kathy, Sharon, Ronnie, Dot, etc. Kat doesn't work without Alfie and I don't see what else they could do for Kat and Alfie now.

I actually think Kat works better with Alfie even though I like him too. Kat's still got so much potential.

I don't consider Ronnie iconic but you're right about the other three.

I'm going to miss Kathleen.
