Firstly, she stole baby Tommy and made Kat and Alfie believe he was dead several months. Even after they got him back, the baby-swap left their marriage severely damaged, which led to Kat cheating with Derek, which the led to them splitting up and Alfie getting with Roxy.

Then after Kat and Alfie reconciled after Alfie jilted Roxy, it was Ronnie who encouraged Phil to find a new buyer for the Vic and to kick Kat and Alfie out, Phil was actually hesitant to it at first, but she was the one who announced to Kat and Alfie that they were to be evicted. This then resulted in them eventually losing everything, which then led to Alfie desperately torching the house, which led to Kat getting burnt and all the other problems which escalated after that.

I wouldn't say Ronnie is entirely to blame for everything that happened, but I do believe she has been the catalyst to all their misery in the past few years, and her actions are what has precipitated everything that's happened to them.

The baby swap didn't happen by design, Kat is a very immature 13 year old in the body of a mid forties slapper

Alfie more to blame if anything. Nothing to do with Ronnie!

The root of her misery and problems is and always has been Uncle Harry who raped her as a young girl.

I think Ronnie has a lot to do with her misery. She stole Tommy and swapped him for her dead one letting Kat believe Tommy was dead for 4 months, 4 months which Kat won't get back and something that neither Kat or Alfie will ever be able to forget. To lay the blame solely on Alfie is wrong but no surprise for comments on this board. It is not all Alfie's fault, it's not all Ronnie's fault either, it goes further back than Alfie and Ronnie (neither helped though) back to her childhood, but don't let your hate for Alfie get in the way of facts.

OP you made some logical connections there and I think you certainly have a point but I still think Alfie has played a huge part in Kat's misery.

I know that Alfie torching the house left them worse off than they already were but it's not his fault that she cheated on him with Derek.

This.

I'm annoyed that Ronnie's own past is rarely referred to these days.

I do think Ronnie is partly to blame as she did steal the baby but she wasn't thinking straight, her baby had just died and she was grief-stricken and she did try to give the baby back but it was too late as baby James' body had already been discovered.

Kat did eventually get Tommy back and Ronnie went to prison and nothing else was said and Alfie burnt the house down and Kat got caught in it so he's as much to blame for Kat's recent misery as Ronnie is!

I just don't understand why Kat and Ronnie aren't friends as they've both been abused by family men they trusted and have loads of emotional baggage!

They could do a brilliant two-hander talking about their pasts.

And that isn't the root of her unhappiness, the reason she cheats is for attention and I believe that is directly attributed to uncle Harry but her husband is a deadbeat and that is his fault

I don't think Alfie's a deadbeat he's a buffoon who doesn't always think things through and yes that is his fault but Kat knew what he was like before she got together with him, I remember Kat and Sam discussing Alfie and Sam made a comment about the possibility of him and Kat becoming a couple and Kat pulled a face and called him a plonker so she knew what she was getting herself into but she still got involved with him!

No, Its not Ronnie's fault that when they came back to Walford in 2010 they had split up (again) and she slept with Michael and had Tommy.

Kat chose to bed Derek - Ronnie was in jail when that happened.

So, no she isn't to blame for the choices Kat has made.

Yep she could become best friends with the woman that kidnapped her child and left her dead one in his place. Hardly friendship material there.

No. Although Ronnie is a major part of it. She's not the cause to blame for most. She's more like a third to blame but Kat has forgave her and moved on from that as she is sympathetic as Ronnies own child child and upset Ronnie a lot. Harry is to blame for most of it and goes back for her whole life. She's managed to have it dormant for a while but she sluttiness comes from trying to clean herself of him. So he's to blame and also not with it back at the fore it's eating at her again.

I don't view Alfie as a buffoon, I used to at the beginning but they've taken this cheeky chappy image too far and if I knew him in real life ... well I wouldn't know him so...
He has children now and I don't think I will ever get over the fact he set fire to his house and Mrs! I really do just feel the character has gone as far as he can.

She's miserable because she makes herself miserable. She cuts out her family and friends, she locks herself in her room, and she refuses to have counselling or any sort of therapy. She's sour as hell.

I'm not sure really if Ronnie is to blame but if she is its a bonus point for Kat that she refuses to blame Ronnie. Honestly Kat's troubles all stem from the horrific abuse she received from her uncle, an argument could be made for every mistake Kat has made being influenced by that.

Alfie for causing the fire has to take a lot of responsibility though as it's been said in here already. I know Kats done Alfie a lot of wrong in the past but regardless of Alfie's good intentions. The fire idea was moronic and caused a lot of damage to Kat's life

Ronnie has already been slapped by Kat then later Kat forgave her before Ronnie went to prison then brought her back 2 years later when she was released, Then a few months after been released she kicks Kat and Alfie out of the vic, So Ronnie is to blame for something's in Kats life but she isn't to blame for Kat having an affair with Derek as she had an affair with Derek, 18 months after Ronnies exit.

To a large extent, yes. I agree that it did act as a catalyst and damage her and Alfie's marriage, and then the sale of the Vic which Ronnie had a hand in didn't help matters either as it lead to the money problems they face now. Ronnie's negative influence on their life has hurt them at major turning points.

But ultimately, a lot of the blame in regards to the affairs and cheating must also lie with Kat's fanny . It gets her in all sorts of trouble really. I think she would've cheated on Alfie regardless of the baby swap to be honest. She just can't keep it in her knickers. It's part of the DNA of the character much like Max.

I meant they could be friends because of their similar pasts!

Fair enough it's not conventional friendship material but both women were abused as children by family members they thought they could trust and got pregnant but were disallowed from bringing the children up as theirs, they are both victims of their past and would be brilliant in a Kat/Ronnie two-hander where they talk about their pasts, if Kat knew about Ronnie's past and how similar to her own it is they could form a bond and become good friends!

Lol!

Of course Alfie's a buffoon!

This is Shane Richie we're talking about and he's as mad as a hatter and that comes through in his portrayal of Alfie!

Lmao at the Kat's fanny part!

Maybe she should invest in a chastity belt!

Talking of Max Banging, it's mentioned in the tv mags this week that Kat and Max have a romantic 'interlude'!

Her role is a big contributor in their current problems but at the heart of it their problems was there before Ronnie entered the picture, she didn't help put it that way, she got off pretty lightly considering the damage she done.
