You missed out the more recently added 4th group of BBC detractors ... those thick ignorant people that think
the BBC is full of sick paedophiles, just because a very small number of it's ex-personalities have since been
exposed as vile perverts, one of which is now dead, and can no longer be brought to justice.

None of these ex-personalities have had any direct connection to Doctor Who, of course.

I don't think the BBC was full of sick paedophiles. I do think that a number of people had expressed concern about Saville even in the 70's, and this should have been enough for the BBC to think hang on... giving him a childrens TV show? That's not a good idea.
Fast forward to now, all the people who gave Saville access to children at the BBC and in hospitals are apparently dead... Yes, all of them... not ONE will be called to account.
I must be one of those thick ignorant people, cos I don't think justice has been served here.

Perhaps if journalists who tried to investigate the matter weren't beaten in carparks by gangs of anonymous thugs who ended such encounters by advising the now bloodied and bruised journalists to stop pursuing Savile, BBC management wouldn't have ignored the "rumours" so much either...

Along with all the hospitals, children's homes, schools, local councils, government bodies, churches and charities and no doubt many more organisations who also ignored the concerns voiced by those low down in the pecking order and as a result, failed to act. It's unfair to single out the BBC for what was, apparently, common practise at the time.

"Group think", protecting the reputation of the establishment and the ostrich reaction are still around today.
