Kat and Roxy. They have both gone back to square one as characters and go round in circles.

I'll vote on the poll another time but I have to say Charlie Slater, by his absence when his daughter had twins, nearly died in a fire, found out his brother had abused other girls and tried to kill herself. This is made even worse by the fact that Dominic brought Charlie back himself at Christmas 2013. Charlie said he wouldn't have missed Kat's last night in the Vic for the world, but hasn't been there for Kat when she really needed him.

Biggest casualty is Dean Wicks, but also:
Jane Beale, Charlie Cotton and Jay Mitchell are pretty much ruined for me as well. |

He ruined Jane and the whole Beale family in fact. I don't know how they can continue as a family. Kat and Alfie have been ruined, I am fed up with their misery.
I think the one person he has got right is Billy, having him working for the Cokers and away from the Mitchell's has done wonders for his character. |

- He ruined Phil Mitchell for turning him into even more of a pig than he was.
- He ruined Jane Beale. The Jane I know would never dump a body in the woods. - He ruined Bobby Beale. For obvious reasons. - He ruined Dean Wicks for turning him into a rapist. - He ruined Charlie Cotton right from the start. |

He began so well with Sharon, but now she is back to being a whimpering, weak willed woman, who keeps threatening Phil that she'll leave him, but never goes through with it!
Sharon needs to get her backbone back! |

Jane ...callous
Cindy...personality change. Phil....a joke thug with a money tree Alfie..good guy turned imbecile Jay...pathetic play thing of the Mitchells Ben...no remorse over killing Heather, goes on to mug his niece and use Abi Abi...is now a Mitchell Charlie...so much potential thrown away Max...no more than a sleazy middle aged man now. Forgot Dean, although that was the plan from the beginning. There were always signs that he had 'problems', putting it mildly. On the plus side Billy, Kat, Denise, Kim and Stacey are all improved, with others, like Dot and Shirley, getting s/ls at last. |

For me: (can't believe I forgot to post my own here)
Mick screenhog - personality change. Shoehorned everywhere and overexposed and the rape storyline and how he takes it out on everyone and makes everything about him has sickened me. Phil for being more a a bully the. He already is and that is tired and he needs to become weak and dependant on others now Sharon for making her a doormat Jane with the Ben adoption Dean for making him the rapist making. His time and potential on a shelf life. Charlie with this Roxy story Lucy for wasting the characters potential and the short sighted decision to kill her off Poppy - she was off before she left imo Nora - she never did anything about Carl Whitney - For these pathetic excuses and not using her. Stacey - For what's she's about to do to dot Alfie - For the fire and the never ending roundabout with Kat Les - For making him a regular and his dullness really shows Jay - How he ended thinks with Abi Tanya - Making her appear desperate to reunite with max Tj- the personality change as a result of being axed for bianca Anthony - for that one episode return Off screen - Kats sisters and Charlie for not one of them returning for any of her storylines He's ruining far too many characters now. |

This is difficult with the option to only choose one but I think for me it has to be Roxy. She was great with Aleks and working so well back with Ronnie so what do they do? Make her sleep with her beloved sister's husband while she's in a coma. For all the damage that has been done to other characters, I don't see any return from that.

If he was responsible for Ronnie killing Carl (it might have been one of Newman's last decisions), then her.
Alfie too. It's like the person who loathed him the most was given carte blanche to write for him. I don't blame people on here for disliking him after what he did but I wouldn't have made Alfie an arsonist. I think making Jane an accomplice to murder was an inspired move. Ian being so quick to forgive what she did is more questionable. I thought even Ian would chuck Jane out on her arse. She dumped his daughter's corpse FFS! How can you sleep next to someone who did that? Stacey's too perfect these days but she still has the same basic personality. She's redeemable. On a similar note, I feel Lola should be used more but the fact that she's been used so sparingly means no damage has been able to be inflicted on her character, apart from to the general audience's connection with her. The old Deano was a bit bland and not worth bringing back. The new one was interesting until the rape plot went off the boil, as has been extensively covered on here. Dot gets on my nerves now when she never did before. I think that might be because she's been used more under DTC, so her existing flaws (chiefly her "woe is me" attitude) have been showcased more. |

To be honest, my only real issue with DTC is story blocking and pacing. With storyblocking you have a handful of characters at the forefront for a period of time to the point where they feel overused and that we have seen too much of them and then they disappear and the whole thing happens again with a different set of characters. He just needs to balance out stories and also work through stories quicker - I'm not one of these who wants a story to end as quick as it has began but some of the stories have been dragged out and in order to keep them going, the same scenes keep being rehashed over and over. Yesterday was good though, it had a nice mix of characters. |

I agree, this forum really has turned on DTC and don't we know about it!

Yesterday was good though, it had a nice mix of characters. I agree with the pacing issue. I personally do like stories that pan out over a longer period and ebb and flow in the show but it has gone a bit too far at present. There is a discernable attempt to interlink stories which again has to be better than the single strand stuff in recent years but again it does tend to drag some stories out . As for damage the only real damage I think that has been done is to the Beales. I said so at the time of the 30th but was shouted down by the DTC lovers (at the time). How on earth would Jane playing true to her character behave in the way she did vis a vis Lucy. Add on top Ian just accepting it. Ian is such a key character in EE that it matters. Messing up peripheral characters matters less as they come and go but undermining one of the original families is going to have long term impact. |

I can't believe so many people are saying Jane, for me DTC massively improved the character, made her far more interesting and complex...
