Ok, so over the past month or so, there have been many posts about CS and how rubbish it is at the moment.

So I'm going to ask you guys a simple question -

What would you do if you were in charge at Corrie?

But there's a catch, due to on-going contracts, you can't sack any current actors for at least 12 months. You can bring in new characters, but can't get rid of any current ones.

So, what would you do? What storylines would run? Would you knock down parts of the set and build new businesses/houses? Would you bring in new families? Would you change the personalities of current characters?

It will be interesting to hear your thoughts.

To start off, I would knock down the medical centre and build a row of shops with flats above like Victoria street, this will enable more scope for new characters to interact with current cast. One of the shops could be a smaller walk-in centre and pharmacy.

Also, turn the property next to the bistro into something (the one Terry Duckworth was turning into the lap dance club) maybe Nick could knock through and use the space for functions like weddings, live music etc.

Turn the kebab shop into a Chinese takeaway and have a Chinese family.

Turn the gym into an indoor market or maybe move the community centre into there

I would also have more hard hitting storylines to run alongside the comedy ones. For too long Corrie has focused too much on the comedy and it's getting very "Carry-on"

There needs to be a Blanche / Sylvia character - maybe Beth's Gran could fit into that role on a permanent basis?

Sort out Callum's latent homosexuality

I'd split Steve and Michelle, he could get with another woman who was a better comedy match and move out of the pub retaining shares in it while Michelle could make a success of her wedding planning business and move in with Carla. I'd keep Todd as a villain but have him target someone else other than his family, a feud with David might be fun because they are both bats. I'd have Michael return to his burgling days, burgle the locals and end up in prison so we only get to see him on visiting days but have Gail meet someone else while he's inside and have an affair. Andy would be found out (this could be what sent Michael over the edge) but remain in the street and I'll think of a suitable storyline for him later.

I'd have Carla and Michelle Lez off

No, i think they of meant her other nan. The one who kidnapped Beth when she was little and took her on to a roof. Then was last seen in an ambulance.

Although maybe a follow up would be interesting. What if Beth does wish to meet her dad's famiy?

I'd actually keep the medical centre, but make more of a big thing of it. Bring in a family with the dad who is a doctor and mum is a teacher, with two kids, they would live near Audrey (off the street). The mum would work at Bessie Street school so would get to know the other children on the street. With the doctor, we would get to see more medical issues on screen.
I know Corrie used to have that doctor living on the street for a short time, but they never used him right, and before long he just disappeared.
I would then try and film more at the street where Audrey and the new family live, to get away from the main street so much. The show feels so claustrophobic right now with everyone living and working there!

Like another poster said, I would try and have more serious stories running, I would focus more on Steve's depression storyline. This could be a good long running story, and depression isn't just cured and forgotten about!

One of the new families children, their boy aged 18, would also be suffering from depression, and him and Steve would end up befriending each other when Steve catches the lad attempting suicide. This would be a hard hitting and powerful story which would ultimately lead to a happy ending after a tough few months. This story would also use the new doctor dad as he will feel terrible for not noticing his own son was suffering.

I would get Sarah a job in Manchester (or Salford, whichever they are closest to) working as a PA, this would get the odd scene in the city and would give Sarah a good job away from the street, but she would still be able to interact with plenty of people.

This is one of the biggest problems for me right now, the street is basically a bubble which traps people. Once they are in, they are not allowed to leave, so they must live and work there as well as go on nights out etc there and its just not believable! I would want several people working away from the street, and have others working on the street who don't live there.

Todd would find a new boyfriend and move away from the street, but he would stay working with tracy for a while. His boyfriend would work at the same building where Sarah gets a job, this would then bring some new stories and interactions for both Sarah and Todd.

I also like the poster's idea of an indoor market. This would be a great way to bring in new individual characters, and regular extras which would be seen in the market and occasionally in the pub, but never seeing their house... a bit like some of the market traders in EE.

Pair Billy up with Todd.
Get rid of Michelle, Fiz, Sarah, Sean, Izzy and The Nazirs.
Bring back Peter.
Have Fayes baby put up for adoption.
Kill off Callum.

Beth as in Beth Tinker (now Sutherland). Wife of Kirk, mother of Craig. Auntie into Sinead etc. her family came in when she got married, her mum, Sister (sine ads mum) & her gran briefly made an appearance. Her gran was the only salvageable one out the three but with a little work, she could be quite good

Have Social Services take Fay and Fayette, never to be mentioned again.
Keep the Macdonald's in The Rovers, with occasional visits from Jim, so I would.
Bring back a sober Peter and put him back with Carla; let Simon decide whether to live with them or Leanne.
Quickly finish the Michael/NotGavin story; and Michael would die peacefully in his sleep.
Allow no 'celebs' or relatives of cast members to go to the head of the queue for a role in the show.
Keep the 'corner shop' and Roys cafe; they are both meeting places for characters in the show to pass on street gossip.
Send Sarah and Bethany back to Milan.
Forget the planned '50 yr. old having a baby' story; let Beth and Kirkie have a baby. Craig would make a wonderful big brother.
Keep the allotment story; it is refreshing

Have zeedan work for callum and having a war with the Platts v nazirs. Zeedan could get in really deep with callums drug ring and end up killing a man, witnessed by his grandmother. She would cover it all up and become a weatherfield Walter White.

Tim and Sally to marry. Tim would plan the wedding as Sally doesn't have the time. The tackiest wedding ever (married in the registry office, do in the rovers, honeymoon to Blackpool) leaving Sally on a mission to see if Tim really loves her.

Nick and ericas child to have downs syndrome. Brings Erica into the fold of the Platts and a really wonderful side to Nick. Would be emphasised as a positive storyline rather than some of the storylines I've seen in soaps regarding a downs diagnosis.

A new carribean family moves onto the street, mum, dad, 3 boys and 1 girl. Mum (lynthia) and dad (Ralph) still very much in love. Dad has a feud with Tony and the grimshaws from the past. Boys are Claude (bank clerk), Anthony (waster with a secret child), and Nathaniel (youngest and working hard at school). 1 girl Kristiana who is an athlete and despises her parents.

Faye windass runs away leaving Anna with the baby. A long running story highlighting teenage runaways.

Tracy and Tony get hold of the rovers and kicks out the McDonald's. Ken takes them in and Liz swears revenge on the pair of them.

Leanne and Simons abuse storyline becomes more harrowing as he gets older. Leanne seeks help when he tries to kiss her and she thinks he is going to sexually assault her. He goes to live with Tracy.

Eileen would become an erotic novelist. Her muse is Norris and his harem of 'well experienced' women.

Audrey to fall in love with Ken, but with Ken still grieving for Deidre he will not ever reciprocate.

Mary to finally get her man and Norris realising life is too short proposes to her. She turns into a total vamp for him (just imagine her storming into the rovers and shouting 'it's naughty Norris night' lol!

I'd move the bodies that Cotton knows about and then sack him.

ITV should of course sack Blackburn, then axe some bland deadwood - i.e Andrea, Izzy, Maria, Luke?? When Kal dies, let all the Nazirs move away except Alya and have her and Gary move onto the Street. I think Alya's got potential in the factory and can become a good character.

I think one of the reasons EastEnders bounced back so well the last 18 months or so was not just because of the Carters but they brought back some well known characters into the mix. I think Sarah, Bethany and Jenny coming back has actually led to some more interesting stories and interactions than any of this Gavin saga or the bus crash.

Some actors like Suranne Jones and Katherine Kelly will not come back but open the bank account a bit and offer some other actors, who have so far been reluctant, a good deal to return. Characters that people actually liked - Spider and Toyah come back as a couple? Bring back Ciaran and pair him with Carla? Or maybe a couple of left field choices like Vernon, or Claudia. Audrey and Claudia together were good value.
