Singing and musicals has been horribly stereotyped as 'cheesy' but there are actually some very dramatic musicals out there. The song I posted is to the tune of one from Les Miserables and is the total opposite of the stereotypical musical. The singing Dalek is meant to be taken as seriously as Javert in Les Mis; same goes for the rest of the monsters.

... a singing Dalek is never going to be taken seriously mate.

(Also, I do love how your only source of reference for a 'serious musical' seems to be Les Mis. Almost like you've seen it lately and just latched on to it.)

I can give loads of examples:

Cats
Miss Saigon
Cats
Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
The Sound Of Music
Blood Brothers
Oliver!
The Phantom Of The Opera
Evita

etc...

Actually, I didn't use Wikipedia. I listed them off the top of my head. I absolutely love musicals.

Get a room, you two. The frission between you is palpable.

Like how DB mentioned Cats twice, though.

Sorry, I thought you were going for the Panto angle. Why not a musical 'Reign of Terror', you could save money and re-use Les Mis costumes, sets and stuff??

How?

I could say, for example, that the Judy Garland film adaptation of the Wizard Of Oz wasn't the original film, there was actually one before it starring Oliver Hardy as the Tin Man (don't bother watching it, it's rubbish).

I don't see how a musical Reign Of Terror would work. I've always pictured a Doctor Who Musical as a sort of outer-space 'This Is Your Life', introducing the audience to the most important parts of the Doctor's life.

We'll get two singles at Bates Motel.

You don't see how The Reign of Terror would work as a musical, yet you've seen Les Mis? What.

Whilst both are set during the French Revoloution, Les Miserables has multiple storylines and is more about escaped convict Jean Valjean's emotional journey from thief to fatherly figure and his attempts to nurture and care for Fantine's daughter Cosette. Whereas The Reign Of Terror is MORE about the French Revolution than anything else.

Is nine a real Doc?
Is he just fantasy?
Fought with producers,
No escape from mad scrutiny.

Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see,
He's just a northern boy, he needs no sympathy,
Because he's easy come, easy go,
Big ears, cheeky brow,
Anyway the script blows doesn't really matter to me, to me.

Eccles, he just threw a punch,
No gun against his head,
But acted angry, so he's shit,.
Revival, had only just begun,
But then he went and threw it all away.

DB, ooh,
Didn't mean to make you cry,
If he's not back right when you do demand it,
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters.

(After all you hate him anyway!)

Too late, DB's time has come,
Sent shivers down my spine,
Posts surreal all the time.
Goodbye, everybody, I've got to go,
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth.

Eccles, ooh (anyway the jacket flaps),
He didn't wanna die,
But then again he didn't hang around for half an episode moping into his cold coffee at all like ten did*.

Etc

* May need to rewrite this line.

I do love a bit of musical theatre. Keep them coming Dalekbuster! Maybe you and you alone can save the musical from Mamma Mia ignominy and put it back front and centre where it belongs.

Alright, if we're doing 9th Doctor songs:

‘Raxi-what?’

‘Raxicoricofallapatorious,’

‘Raxi-corico-falla-patouriuse?’

‘No, Raxi- forget it. I’ll explain it to you through song,’:

When trying to express oneself, it's frankly quite absurd,
To try to find the perfect explanation that lets the average human learn
A little song keeps explanations keen,
You need to find a way to explain, precisely what you mean...

Raxicoricofallapatorious!
Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious!
If you say it loud enough, you'll always sound quite ferocious

Raxicoricofallapatorious!
Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye
Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye

When some Blatheen men were chatting, merely grumbling would suffice.
Now if they knew their planet’s name, they might have used it once or twice!

I'm sure early Slitheen would have grasped it in a jiff,
Then their planet’s name would disappear like an unwanted gift

Oh!
Raxicoricofallapatorious
Most Raxicoricofallapatorians are nowhere near as ferocious!
Add some further flourishes, it's so raxi-cori-cori-cofallapatorious!

Raxicoricofallapatorious
Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye
Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye
Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye
Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye

The Latheens could have carved it on their mighty blue bodies!
I'm certain if Charles Dickens was a Raxicoricofallapatorian, he would have used it in his books!
I'm sure the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire only entered the abyss,
Because they never had a planet name like this!
Raxicoricofallapatorious!

If you say it slowly the effect can be hypnoscious!
Check your breath before you speak, in case it's halitotious!

Raxicoricofallapatorious
Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye
Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye
Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye
Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye

So when you’re unsure how to say the planet’s name, there's no need for dismay!
Just summon up this song and then you can speak it okay!

Forget the French revolution. Since DW is made in Wales, we want that Welsh classic Men of Dalek.

DALEKS:
Men of Dalek is what we are.
Lesser races quake in fear
when they learn that we come here
to exterminate.

FIRST DALEK:
Cybermen can be killed by gold.

SECOND DALEK:
Ice Warriors, by lack of cold.

THIRD DALEK:
Time Lords were just senile and old.

DALEKS:
All are second rate.

Daleks are victorious.
In battle we are glorious.
A mutant race
inside a case.
All lesser species will bow down before us.

DAVROS:
Daleks know they have to obey.
Not allowed to respond "No way."
Questioning things is not okay,
or I get irate.

DALEKS:
Look at all the people fleeing
from the superior being.
Their defeat they now are seeing.
We exterminate!

Les Miserables is not set during the French Revolution. Unless you think it lasted over 40 years.
