WhatsApp Calling iOS

Hi

I'd noticed this evening for iOS users an update to WhatsApp Messenger, Version 2.12.1.

Unfortunately in the info theres a note saying:

WhatsApp Calling is rolling out slowly over the next several weeks.

WhatsApp users on iOS will have to wait a while longer then before the feature is available.

I noticed that in the update, i suppose it's a 'wait and see' for iPhone users.

Maybe its a way of rate limiting the number of people who get connected to the new service. Scaling basically?

Didn't the same thing happen on Android?

Yes, that was my first thought as well.

Android was a system of needing someone who already had the feature active making a call to you to activate it.

They had a few teething problems too I read somewhere, calls failing, echoes etc (I've experienced the echo a handful of times) maybe they're trying to sort this all out before rolling out to the masses of iOS users

Just noticed a call icon on my iPhone WhatsApp, incoming and outgoing calls are now working.

Thanks, was searching for a screenshot, hadn't realised it replaced the photo. No sign yet for me.

Just to add, this update FINALLY adds a sharing extension, so you can send photos direct from the camera roll, web links direct from Safari etc.

Still no actionable notifications though.

Ive just had WhatsApp Calling activated on my iPhone 5 this morning

I just wish they would update the app to be able to select ur own ringtone.

I want it lol. Is it the same as andriod where someone with whatsapp calling has to ring the person without it to activate it?

It seem to automatically enable somehow. I wasnt able to use WhatsApp Calling yesterday but that changed over nite

It's enabled on my work iphone, no ones called me or anything, just updated the app and the icon is there

No. The phone icon just appears next to the person's picture when in a conversation thread.

UPDATED the app 2 days ago in the morning, saw the call sign and someone was able to call me that evening. Try getting people to call you

The sharing feature excited me

hated having to go to whatsapp and search for the pic and share.

What is actionable notification? is it replying from the top like message? cause i want that as well
